If they wanted to keep Americans safe, they would have done what they were paid billions to do and secured our borders, starting in the 70s...They had no intention of doing that.
In fact, what’s left of middle America is now looked at by the ruling class super wealthy insiders as heavy luggage, a burden, a threat, consumers of resources who asked way too many questions....

He flew the Saudi princes home in chartered planes and kept our borders open.
I think you’re very close to being right. The middle class was great for building up resources. It took skill and sweat to create new technology with tech being generational.
Now that we’re approaching a point of technological rapidity, America’s middle class is simply not needed to produce anymore. Basic resource creation can be done by cheap ignorant peasants while a small middle class can do the smart footwork and a select elite can sit atop the mountain and live a life of avarice.
