Posted on 08/09/2014 8:19:18 PM PDT by SeekAndFind
WASHINGTON President Obama said on Saturday that the airstrikes and humanitarian assistance drops he ordered last week in Iraq could go on for months, preparing Americans for an extended military presence in the skies there as Iraqs leaders try to build a new government.
I dont think were going to solve this problem in weeks, Mr. Obama told reporters before leaving for a two-week golf-and-beach vacation on Marthas Vineyard. This is going to be a long-term project.
The president repeated his insistence that his administration would not send ground troops back to Iraq after ending an unpopular, decade-long war and withdrawing the last troops in 2011. But two days after emphasizing the limited scope of the mission in a White House address, he pledged that the United States would stand with Iraq if it could form a unified and inclusive government to counter the Sunni militants who threaten its future.

Liberals must be freaking out these days. They’ll put it all on Bush, of course, and give Bammy a pass.
The best I can come up with is he thinks that a CIC involved in a foreign engagement is less likely to be impeached.
I never served in the Army, but even I know that you don’t control it and own it until you put boots on the ground, no matter how high you make the rubble bounce.
He’s going to finish at the lowest popularity IN ALL US HISTORY..!!!
Oh wow, Jimmy Carter must be singing Zippity Doo-Dah..!
remember the days of Nobel Peace and how he was a savior to the world after Bush , and the liberals loved loved it?
Yea , how weird those same liberals still love him and make excuses for his killings
Months ...Maybe Years
:FOLKS..ya have to learn to TRUST ME”
What about the people on the mountain? Any plans for them Obammy?
Sounds like a quagmire, to me.
Wellll... its just a matter of time till one of our planes get shot down...then what, Obozo??
He will probably get a bump in his personal popularity numbers at just the right time. It isn’t likely that his left will complain until after the elections.
RE: I never served in the Army, but even I know that you dont control it and own it until you put boots on the ground, no matter how high you make the rubble bounce.
Can anybody reminds us of Clinton’s campaign against Serbia to protect Kosovo from Milosevic?
I believe it was done mostly from bombs from the sky and no boots on the ground.... (but please correct me if I am wrong ).
I work with a bunch of LibTards here in, ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan.’
About 30 days out, after the ‘coronation,’ they became suspiciously silent...
The VERY same people that vocally BASHED President Bush on a DAILY basis had absolutely NOTHING good to say about their Boy King. No bragging rights, whatsoever. None.
Don’t count Jimmy out. He’s still trying to stay in the game, even though it isn’t personally still scheduling the tennis court at the White House. His views on Israel and overseeing elections around the world (especially in corrupt nations) keeps him in contention — and away from his wife and Plains GA.
Bammy’s ‘unjust war’.... cricket chirps from liberals.
Damn the one or two bombs being dropped, they need to be sending an armada of air craft and target every ISIS position at once!
So they can say, as they back away from the “crisis” they’ve themselves have caused: they’ve done everything they can to help. Disgusting and corrupt.
We have somewhere in the area of 10,000 boots in Kosovo. Clinton told us they’d be home by Christmas. Of 1997 IIRC.
So his answer is to include the sunni homicidal maniacs in the Iraqi government
Following the same playbook he did in Kenya with his cousin Odinga in 2006
I’m not going to lie, I do like the sound of endless air strikes against radical Muslims. Boots on the ground? Not so much. drone strike those MFers until they renounce Islam.
I was in Bosnia in 1998. Bombing worked there IMO. I firmly believe that there are no problems here on earth that can’t be solved with the application of an appropriate amount of high explosive ordnance. If you failed to solve your problem, you simply failed to use enough.
...and ISIS will continue for decades....
Barry is a loser...time to impeach and get a real leader in the WH!
...or until the (British) press stops paying attention.
The idea of starting a fledgling democracy Iraq was not a bad one. Bush did not underestimate the desire of the Iraqi people to be free. He did not anticipate the stupidity of the American people to elect a president who would abandon the Iraqi people to evil islamist terrorists who would behead their children. Perhaps Bush should have considered what the election of a marxist in the USA would do to the little corner of democracy he was trying to establish, particularly in light of his close shave in 2000.
“This is going to be a long-term project.”
Spoken like a right proper bloodthirsty, slave-mongering war pig.
So GWB was correct about the war on terror being a long, protracted battle. Welcome to the show Bammy.
Obama and his war for oil......
What say you libtards?
Oh, you mean like that war criminal Bushitler said?
You frigging IDIOT!
For just a moment there, I thought I was reading The Onion...
The Kurds opened a way for them, and most of ‘em ducked through it to Syria.
Whoo hoo. You go Bammy. Take out the evil and fry it well.
Oh yeah. Camp Bondsteel or something like that? Largest base we have in the country, wasn’t it?
They can’t, this one is OBAMAS NOW.
We should never have left Karzai in charge. We should not have pulled out. The region is too volatile right now. As it always has been. I honestly don’t know if there is any good solution. I suppose Iraq could be split up. But there are all sorts of consequences involved.
No, send about a dozen bombers, loaded with the old neutron bombs. I’m sure we still have a few laying around, if not it wouldn’t be hard to rig a few. No more politics, no more bantering, just do it, get it over with and move on. We could make the world a safer place. ISIS cannot be allowed to run rampant across the middle east. I’m sure even most muslim countries agree. Get rid of them now, before their demonic ideas get the rest of the islamic world to join them.
If we don’t stop them now, we will see them spread and spread, gaining more influence and power. I do not want to see a caliphate formed in my life time.
FWIW, Karzai is in Afghanistan.
Of course he diddn’t deserve to get the Nobel Peace Prize (even he admiitted that), and when he got it the committee couldn’t dream that instead of peace he would create violence and destruction everywhere he meddled.
Gosh, such moronic comments. Did he just figure it out? Maybe if they hadn't equipped and supported Islamists to overthrow the Syrian government, they wouldn't be having problems in Iraq now. Don't do "with one hand giveth and other taketh.. on second thought, he could invite ISIS to tea or maybe burgers and discuss a resolution.
Yea, my mistake. I wish there was an edit button.
Not satisiefd with leaving his replacement in a bind with the economy, Obama Care, and 1000 other atrocities, he intends to leave the next guy a smoking heap of a world to deal with. If we don’t prevail, it will be interesting to see if Hillary gets to blame Bush for everything.
The air strikes were made by F-18’s and DRONES
We learned in Afghanistan that the pacifist leftist wackos approve of drones.
The protection of the Kurds will be accomplished (attempted) by Drones.
Yes, they will. So will the trolls on FR.
I predict the appearacnce,,,,of CIndy Sheehan at a new encampment near Martha’s Vineyard before the Obie Vacation is over
i would recommend EVERYONE listen to this interview Savage had with Walid Shoebat yesterday, this guy knows his sh*t, imho and also his website is always the RAW truth, he reveals a lot of different info/videos and usually the first to reveal such things that you will NEVER see in our media!
