RE:”Feel pretty low about this. Always liked his work. I was a kid when “Mork and Mindy”, and I laughed my ass off at that show. And who could have played Peter Pan better?”

I never found him that funny, definitely not “Mork and Mindy”, not that one where he dressed up as a woman.

I am DVRing reruns of South Park and Married with Children and watching them, I find those funnier maybe because its satire of real life versus a Jerry Lewis type making strange voices stomping around in a clown outfit.

It's not the persons sins, lack of faith, or GOD is angry or displeased with the person etc...if healing is not granted

[T]hey brought to him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses (Matt 8:16-17).

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Healing was "granted" 2000 years ago on the cross of Jesus Christ where Jesus "took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses." He healed all who came to him then and he heals them today. Jesus' life here demonstrated that physical or mental healing is not just an "oh by the way" thing or some kind of exception. He deeply cares about each and every one of us who is afflicted and died to take away those afflictions. He is not only in the business of salvation but also healing and restoration, spirit, soul, and body. He who can receive it let him receive it.

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38).

[He] healed all that were sick (Matt 8:16).

There is no record of Jesus ever turning down anyone who came to him for healing, but "he healed them all." And Jesus never afflicted anyone. He always heals and restores those who come to him.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.[A]nd they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them (Matt 4:24).

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd (Matt 9:35-36).

Jesus heals EVERY and ALL diseases and he does so, as it says here, because he has compassion on us. Disease is an intruder, a robber that has committed breaking and entering into a person's life. But Jesus has come to kick the robber out and restore abundant life to people because he loves them and has already paid the price for their diseases.

[A]ll they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them (Luke 4:40).

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole (Matt 14:36).

By God's grace, love, and compassion, Jesus lays his hands on us and sometimes by God's grace, we must find a way to touch Jesus, because all who touch him are made perfectly whole.

” I suspect when Jonathan Winters passed, he lost his mentor, and the one person who understood him.”

My thoughts exactly.

“...I never found him that funny...”

Yeah, some folks didn’t. But we’re all different. I liked his comedy in the same way as I like The Three Stooges. Madcap, zany, and off the wall.

Takes all kinds, brother.

I did not like “Dead Poets Society” and I despised “Patch Adams”.

Oy as the Jewish brothers say…the bad theology and cruelty in this thread what a bonanza for the DU’ers lurking. Suicide is a sticky subject in the Bible. If we are going to get legal about it, God is fairly silent on suicide and one could say he supports it in certain circumstances. Jesus said one of the highest honors to God is to give your life for a brother…is not giving your life over suicide? Such as a soldier going on a “Suicide Mission” or the 9-11 first responders going into tower 2 to rescue people when they knew it was a “Suicide”. God is fairly silent on a person’s motivations when giving up their own life. Yes we can extrapolate common sense and say what Robin Williams was not noble, was selfish but to muddy the issue he was clearly not thinking critically or in his right mind. Does G*d give dispensation for someone so tortured with depression?

It’s biblical illiterate and downright medieval to judge where someone will spend eternity. Jesus kind of hated that when he was here, that finger wagging. But it goes back to the original sin when we learned of Good and Evil, God knew we’d use some self righteousness to bludgeon our fellow man with.

No, you must agree with me on everything, everyone must ...:)

I like the Three Stooges short except AMC has way too many commercials to watch them wo DVRing them.

I recall as a kid I first saw Marx Brothers in Duck Soup and Monkey Business and thought those two movies were the funniest.

There is something feminine-like about Robin Williams characters that makes it hard for me to enjoy them.

How about movies where the bad guy bully had a gun and was persuaded to give it up and change his life to a good one because the good guy won him over with his good nature and non-confrontation?

And passed gun safety and anti-bully laws?

Bully free zone signs?

‘I love you bad guy’

Somebody want to ask that genius why the wrong word has always been used to describe the condition? And why didn’t he go ahead and define it instead of running his mouth all around what it might do instead of what it actually is? In my experience “depression” has always been a code word for something closer to borderline nuts and it leads, invariably, to people being treated differently than they would if the actual condition was spelled out.

Reminds me of WC Fields when he said “When I drink I’m funny. If I don’t drink, I’m not funny”. And we know a lot of comedy is fueled by likker, etc.

Some of his acting roles were well executed. But live doing improv he was crude and not funny.

Spot on.

We all take damage along the course of our lives. Some people deal with it better. Some don’t.

Well said.
