One of the unstated reasons we supply things like Hellfires to Isreal is to keep them from developing their own versions which could be better than ours and then selling them to the rest of the world.

Congress will support Israel, but this was probably the only way Obama could restrain Israel in the short run, to protect Hamas. I would not be surprised if they also coordinated with the (leftist party) Brits to cut off resupply of precision munitions, to tie Israel’s hands.
