Sunday on CBS's "Face The Nation," Gov. Jay Nixon (D-MO) said the local police "attempting to besmirch a victim of a shooting" by releasing a video of Michael Brown allegedly engaging in a "strong-arm" convenience store robbery.
"I think it had an incendiary effect," Nixon said. "I mean, when you release picture and you clearly are attempting to besmirch a victim of a shooting, shot down in his own street, a young man and at the same time youre releasing information to try to make it, to tarnish him, then properly, there was a lot of folks that were concerned about that, and I do think it flamed it back up and has caused us to have to deal with some of that."

frickin ridiculous

Sometimes cigar is not just a cigar.
Sounds like the governor is looking to replace Holder should he decide to step aside.
Democrats run on grievances. They stoke the fires and then warm themselves at the expense of those burning. You’d think that high ranking officials would learn not to comment as that taints the jury pool and makes a legitimate prosecution impossible. But, they always comment to their political advantage. (As I recall, the military had to drop rape charges against a soldier because the president damaged their case with a damning public comment that could be construed as an instruction to the military judges.)
This governor can’t keep their big yap shut.
Wonder what his recent FR handle is.
Hey Gub, never mind your party’s policies the last 150 years since the plantations were freed.
What an arsewipe.
I thought Nixon portrayed himself as a supposed “Blue Dog” Democrat which is how he gets elected in Missouri, I guess it was all BS.
Besmirch? He had just committed a robbery minutes prior to his confrontation with the policeman. It puts into context his disproportionate, aggressive reaction to being stopped by him while walking in the middle of the street.
The information is relevant. And it should have had a calming effect on normal people. The Dems are angry because it hurt their narrative about a "Gentle Giant" who was gunned down by a racist cop.
I'm actually glad this fool (Gov Nixon) tried it his way. It didn't work. And because the local police did what's right, it isn't Saint Michael Brown the thugs and race baiters are fighting over.....it's a bully who assaulted someone half his size.
Why am I glad? Because it's now very obvious that those rioting only want violence and chaos. And that needs to be stopped by whatever it takes. Enablers such as Nixon make me ill....from their situations of privilege and lack of real-world experience, they think they know what's best for everyone else.
I wonder how he'd feel if the rioters showed up at the Governor's mansion.
Okay, so now I get it. African American thug - good, law abiding, taxpaying convenience store operator - bad.
Following the party line established by the libtard president and libtard attorney general.
So it’s fine to be a thief and thug in MO. What a disgrace. No business should locate in any ghetto area in that state.
More convinced each and every minute that the feds intended to put this recording with the Learner emails and the local cops new it. In order to protect their own they released it. Had it been a normal white citizen it would never have seen the light of day.
It’s not like this was dredged up from his past, of even a week before-it was a crime he committed some minutes before the confrontation with the police officer. That has bearing on his actions.
“I think it had an incendiary effect,”
“I mean,
when you release picture
and you clearly are attempting to besmirch a victim of a shooting,
shot down in his own street,
a young man
and at the same time youre releasing information to try to make it,
to tarnish him,
then properly,
there was a lot of folks that were concerned about that,
and I do think it flamed it back up
and has caused us to have to deal with some of that.”
Worst Gobbledy Gook, Run On, grammar deficient Sentence made by an official in at least the past month. Sounds like Benjamin Crump wrote it.
The only other examples that come close are responses by the President’s Press Secretary to the media when asked an embarrassing question, and when the President makes a speech.
For real.
Exactly. No matter what the cop knew or didn’t know, the thug knew he’d committed strong-arm robbery right before their paths crossed.
