Yeah, a cop is not a security guard.

A security guard is suppose to only observe and report and then call the cops. That is why they don't carry guns.

The cops are supposed to be the last line of defense, unless you have your own means of defense.

In Texas at least, it depends on what level security guard you are. A Level 3 is licensed to carry a firearm.
