Rick Perry Becomes the 2016 GOP Frontrunner (you have to watch the ad in the story!)

Rick Perry has been on a subtle campaign since November of 2012, and he has done it well. The Texas Governor has wooed away companies from multiple states by showing off the energetic business environment, he has engaged in national political discussions through videos, social media, and op-eds, and he has kept his name, and more importantly, the record of the state he governs, in the news.

But now we have the news of two criminal indictments.

Leading Conservatives Gather For Republican Leadership Conference In New OrleansThis indictment is filled with the distilled essence of progressive projection. An out of control county DA gets drunk and makes a decision to drive, then she is caught and arrested. This DA, who was found to be intoxicated three times the legal limit, attempted to use her title to not only coerce the police to let her go, but to threaten the police for locking her drunk ass up.

Coercion and threats of retribution. That’s what the DA who is at the center of this case did. That is what the Travis County DA is charging Perry with.

How perfectly Orwellian this all is.

I know some are worried that the indictment of Governor Perry, and the subsequent mug shot, will be the stumbling block that preemptively ends his bid for 2016, but I am not convinced.

This indictment plays to Perry’s strengths, not only his serious retail politics skills, which this will allow him to display, but also a naturally conservative but truly populist opinion that some drunk shouldn’t be in charge of jack, especially when drawing a salary from the taxpayers.

I can imagine Perry defending himself on the campaign trail, but I really don’t have to, RickPAC already has an ad up that lays out the case pretty well.

I could vote for Perry, he is not my pick but with a strong conservative VP on the ticket like Lee out of Utah or Pence of Indiana I think that would be a formidable ticket.

Now if we get another GOPE VP squish like Ryan or Christie we are being set up for the continuation of GOPE surrenders well into the future. The GOPE couldn’t pick the winner of a one horse race or their own noses they are so inept and blind to reality.

It is my understanding that Tom Delay warned Perry that this might happen. By the time the case against DeLay was thrown out of court, it had poisoned his political career beyond repair.

If Perry succeeds in securing the border, he will be a national hero. I am liking Perry!!!!

The dueling mugshots - of Perry and Rosemary - need to be posted over and over and over.....

When political dirty tricks by Dems can't even cut it with former Obama PR man David Axelrod, then "Houston, we have a problem!!!!" LOL

Spot on, but it’s quickly coming to an end. If the GOP Senate simply passed a flat budget with no increase year after year after year, then the deficit would drop. Toss in reigning in the regulatory community with laws that force them into the court system to implement their schemes and force Congressional votes whenever some scheme affects the national economy by more than $10 million. Jam up the Leviathan.

Debating skills can be learned. We need to coalesce around an acceptable, though imperfect candidate early on in the process. Having FReepers battle it out over nuances just drains us of the energy needed to win.

Furthermore, FReepers should be focusing on winning elections to local, county and state offices. How many school districts could use a FReeper majority. Vouchers everyone?

Well well...... I’m glad to hear that.

Me too. In the complete absence of any other candidate with executive credentials, Rick is the man.

When I back off and survey the whole situation, Cruz and Rubio seem better suited to entering the battle from where they are. Strong voices are needed in the Senate. I see no point in reducing their strengths to become President when they are lacking in Executive experience.

America sees plainly the problems of a Senator President promoted beyond his level of ability.

Have no idea who to team up with Perry. Someone with lots of experience. An old heavy...Newt??

Cruz will make a great Attorney General and, someday, the Supreme Court.

Rubio....I have to think about it and look over his strengths.

The team must include Dr Ben Carson. Perhaps not as VP but in some position to take control of the health care problem.

Fortunately, we have time to let events percolate.
