If you were in Kansas City and saw a Native American walking across the street would you yell out, "Hey, Chief, you dropped your hat"? If you were in Kansas City and saw Dwayne Bowe cross the street would you yell out, "Jesus, Bowe, how could you drop that one on the 30 yard line when you were wide open?"

The author needs a fresh pair of panty hose, it seems. Along with a fresh panty liner. Seems he wet the one he had on while writing this POC of an article.

This is about compassion for people who dont have a voice No, this is you with all your "compassion" believing you can speak for someone or some group who have nothing to say about your offense du jour, because intrinsically they find absolutely nothing wrong it.

Why are people jumping on the offended wagon? Because somewhere along the way we have become a nation convinced that we have a right not to be offended. It's nonsense.
Unfortunately at the end of the day Washington is going to lose this one. All the uproar and faux ire will eventually win out and they will be forced by the league to drop the Redskins name. When that unhappy day arrives I hope that the owners of the team go before the media and say, "You have forced us to stop using our traditional name of Washington Redskins. So be it. If we can't be the Redskins then we will be nothing and in the future will just be referred to as 'Washington'." Talk about watching media heads explode.

If you saw a Native American walking across the street, would you yell out, Hey, Redskin, you dropped your hat? Oh brother. No, but neither would I yell, "hey, white person, you dropped your hat." because it wouldn't occur to me to address somebody by their skin pigment. I'd be more likely to say, "excuse me, sir, you dropped your hat." provided I could tell it was a male. Guess that makes me a sexist.

Sadly, I believe you are right.
I'm afraid we are on the verge of thought crimes. That is, if we are not there already.
Thanks for your reply DD.

This is about whether youre human. Of course it is, because historically, that's what liberalism is about: determining who is human, and who is not. The former get government and corporate jobs, while the latter are put into camps, shot, gassed and burned.
Note that that's clear, let me ask you - one last time - about the team name, comrade.

I know if I saw this guy crossing the street I would say "Hey idiot you dropped your hat".
Interesting that a guy that finds the term offensive would use "Redskin" about 15 times in a column.

If he dropped his hat (aka war bonnet) I would be polite and call him “Chief”, not redskin. The rank and (single) file indians didn’t have hats. No duh.

It's people like this ignorant POS that are ruining commentary in America
-It IS about political correctness dopey no matter what you believe-I bet this clown thinks that people who disagree with Obama are all racist! ....and anyone want to lay a bet on what he thinks of the tea party?
He'll get high fives from his leftist buddies at the next Anti-Israel picnic and be told how "brave" he was to write such a meaningful article-meanwhile 90% of Americans would probably think he's a total jerk for writing this trash if they had the courage to wade through his deeply stupid article.

If Native Americans dont like the term Redskins, thats all anybody needs to know on the issue.Well, now, I haven't heard any of them say they don't like it.

From the Wikipedia article on George Preston Marshall:
"In 1932, he and three other partners were awarded an NFL franchise for Boston. This team became known as the Boston Braves, as they played on the same field as baseball's Boston Braves. Marshall's partners left the team after one season, leaving him in control. In 1933 he moved the team from Braves Field to Fenway Park, which the team would share with the Red Sox, hiring coach "Lone Star" William Henry Dietz, who may have been part Sioux, and changing the team nickname to the Redskins. There were four Native Americans on the original Redskins team in 1933."
Evidently not every "Native American" has found the term to be offensive.

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around when yellow will be mellow when the red man can get ahead, man and when white will embrace what is right.
