A grand jury has convened to determine what charges, if any, will be brought against Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown earlier this month.
Over at The New Republic, Yishai Schwartz argues that a conviction against Wilson is impossible because of Missouri's self defense laws

If Wilson isn't indicted by the grand jury or is acquitted at trial, the Brown family will most certainly file a wrongful death lawsuit. I also wouldn't be surprised if Eric Holder were to pursue a case against Wilson for federal civil rights violations. But that will do little to mollify the mob out for Wilson's blood. if Wilson isn't indicted and convicted then the unrest in Ferguson will resume with a vengeance as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Spike Lee stoke the flames.

It is NOT YET A FACT that the officer was beaten, or has a black eye, or a broken eye. Yes?
ALL that I hear makes it sound that the cop was beaten, but that’s not official yet, right?
Yes, they will kill him in prison, but if not in prison, the scum bags of the earth, will kill him on the streets. Unfortunately, either way, he will not survive long. What a screwed up country we live in.

Somebody on this forum said that was an X-ray of AN eye, and not Wilson’s eye. Said poster cautioned against using that pic. Believe me, I WANT that to be Wilson’s head, because then it’s an open and shut case, but again, there seems to be a LOT of things out there that are unconfirmed.
In the end I don’t think that they could get either a conviction or a civil judgment against Officer Wilson.
But they are going to drag him though four or five years of legal Hell in the name up pumping-up Democrat fundraising and GOTV efforts.
In the end he’ll have to change his name, get plastic surgery, and live on the same Idaho mountaintop with George Zimmerman.
First off the law suit. Then a book followed by a book tour. Oprah will clinch the 1st interview and she’ll call it, “Why the Hate? Up Close and Personal with Mrs. Brown”. Then the college speech circuit at $50,000 a pop. Then…their own “social justice” foundation! “Stop Killing. It’s Taking a Toll on Love the Environment and School” (SKITTLES).

It’s the liberals using a distraction tactic of the can’t see the forest for the trees variety. They’ll cast doubt that he had an orbital fracture while overlooking the fact that Brown punched him in the face and went for his gun. They try to draw you away from the more important issues by using sleight of hand.
The Brown family will pursue a wrongful death suit whether or not the officer is indicted. Sharpton has put dollar signs in their eyes. And holder, will file civil rights charges whether the officer is charged or not. The narrative has been written and somebody must be held responsible(as long as it’s not obama or anyone in the administration)
That's still on the table for G. Zimmerman too.
One autopsy-—there have been three, to date-—indicated Brown had an injury at his thumb joint-—which might indicate a struggle w/ a hard object, like a gun.
If he did struggle w/ the officer’s gun-—he would have left his DNA there.
He will be cleared.
It looks like Wilson has the state law on his side but you can take it to the bank that Holder is waiting in the wings to bring a federal civil rights charge. It is going to be a long haul for Wilson. I wonder if he wins at the state level whether he is entitled to appointment of state defense counsel?

Officer Wilson is going down make no mistake about it. The Feds will use the old civil rights violation catch all to charge and convict him
Might not even need DNA. One good fingerprint would prove Brown's hand was on that gun. Dorain Johnson has already admitted that he lied about what happened in the car, and that it was Brown that attacked Wilson, not the other way around.
