Funny -- the enemies of our republic heartily agree with you. I think I hear them applauding your capitulation.
Seriously. What on earth compels you to make such a statement on Free Republic? Have you honestly thrown in the towel? Have you no fight left in you?
What compels, you ask, to make such a statement? A number of us have been shouting “The British are Coming” for a couple of decades now. Some longer. Meanwhile we see that the road from “here” to “there” keeps changing and the “there” that is possible becomes diminished almost exponentially. IMHO, and I am far from alone, the “there” we aspire to know isn’t even America we knew as children. In other words, what we are willing to fight for isn’t even achievable at this point. John Adams set the U.S. on solid footing when he advocated taking on the Ten Million in debt that existed from before there was a U.S. This was a huge cornerstone that wet our “house on rock” for two centuries. We are currently encumbered with $17 Trillion that has already been spent and IOUs for hundreds more. The Biblical admonition against the sins of the father come to mind but in our case it is grandchildren’s grandchildren. None of the forks in the road lead to where we would like to go. NONE.
Individuals here and there have “fight” in them, but not the American people as a whole.
