Lawmakers are sounding the alarm over the possibility that President Obama will take sweeping executive actions on immigration in a matter of days with some Republicans warning of a renewed budget brawl if he takes that step.
For all intents and purposes, America no longer has an immigration system. Instead, we have unsettling chaos, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wrote in a letter earlier this week to Obama, urging him not to go forward with unilateral action.
In comments that have received widespread attention, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, told the Des Moines Register that all bets are off on a looming budget resolution if Obama pulls the trigger on immigration-related measures.
"If the president wields his pen and commits that unconstitutional act to legalize millions, I think that becomes something that is nearly political nuclear," King said. "I think the public would be mobilized and galvanized and that changes the dynamic of any continuing resolution and how we might deal with that."
Though GOP leaders have shown little interest in reprising the 2013 budget battle that led to a partial government shutdown, Kings comments pointed to a willingness by some on the Tea Party-aligned right to use the budget process or continuing resolution -- as leverage.

Obama's lawyers are carefully crafting a legal rationale they believe will withstand scrutiny and survive any court challenges, administration officials say.
The argument goes something like this: Beyond failing to fix broken immigration laws, Congress hasn't even provided the government with enough resources to fully enforce the laws already on the books. With roughly 11.5 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally -- far more than the government could reasonably deport -- the White House believes it has wide latitude to prioritize which of those individuals should be sent home.

Do we have room for another few billion people?
We don't have enough jobs for even an extra fifty people, much less millions or billions.
Does that mean that the president has sanctioned anarchy?
Are NO LAWS to be followed?!?!
Can I now drive any speed that I want? Is every street an autobahn?
I guess we don't have to pay taxes anymore since no laws are to be enforced.
Whatever will the police have to do now that there are no laws?
^ sorry for the double post
If Americans want to show their outrage in a REAL TANGIBLE manner, then we go and change all our W2s to reflect like 9 deductions so that NO FEDERAL TAXES ARE TAKEN OUT. THAT WOULD get their attention - and then send notices to all REPS, SENATORS and WHITE HOUSE stating that WE THE PEOPLE are not going to accept TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
Vote all you want. It won’t matter is the point.
Exactly. My point, though, is that if the GOP opposes by shutting down the gov, it happens faster, but still happens.
This is all a behind the scenes way of accomplishing the North American Union.
Personally I do not want to be part freaken Mexican.
The Congress can retaliate if they have the guts. They can cut off spending for Blam’s EPA enforcers and cut another few billion from the IRS.
They’ll form a commission to write a really rude letter. This time they’re serious!
There is only one answer: every Red State must enforce the laws Obama won’t, using existing 1996 laws, including 287(g) as justification. In addition, each of those states must announce that they will refuse to honor any of the work permits Obama hands out, nor issue drivers licenses to the illegals affected by his illegal order.
