Teen use of tanning beds still high among white girls

They want to look nice for the prom. They want to “put down a good base” for their upcoming Shore trip. They want to do it because it’s free on Tuesdays.

While most nationwide teenagers appear to be heeding the warning to avoid tanning beds, nearly a third of white high-school girls still use indoor tanning devices.

It's not the UV that's causing skin cancer, it's their low-fat diets.

She also cannot possibly date any man that has money. He has to be a dirt poor stoner with a pickup truck that can pull her camper.
Oh and every time she gets her oil changed at the dealership, she ends up with a newer car. She works part-time too.

She is under the illusion that if anything happens, I will be her ATM just like my parents were.

And my brother hasn’t worked since he left LA in 1994. No wonder I moved away.

It would be so much healthier if people were encouraged to be out in sunlight (including outdoor tanning) but knowing what's best for their skin type. I'm not convinced anything but SPF 0 is necessary for those with self awareness. It's not good for the bones to avoid natural sunlight.

I don't know why those tanning beds exist. Tanning beds do lots of harm and no good. JMHO, the tan from them looks awful. It just doesn't have that healthy essence that a careful natural tan does.

Megan Melanoma

I had 3 potential spots burned off this week.

I wear a wide brimmed hat and long sleeve tee when I mow the yard now. And hearing protection, which at the rate my hearing is going I won’t need for much longer, sigh.

Seems like ‘tanning’ is the thing in the northeast where so many low information voters live.

Folks who think they ‘look good’ with a tan ought to take a look at Johnny Bonehead

I never understood how it is that there are so many tanning salons in a sunny place such as San Diego. People pay money to go in there to get what they can get if they just spend some time outside. Maybe these girls are vain and want a tan which is even all over, all parts of the body?

You might want to spell out “Kentucky”. Non USA readers might see a different meaning in “KY town”, lol. I recall in the early days of instant messaging someone used “KY Girl” as their screen name. Hilarity ensued. ;-)
