CA SB808 Need Help from Fellow Gun Owners Here
http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201320140SB808 ^ | Vanity

I have been going across forums associated with gun owners in CA (i.e. Calgunst.net) with other fellow members seeking support from the firearms community in regard to a situation we have in CA.

Recently, the overzealous anti-gun DeLeon had put together a bill called SB808, which requires us to register any home-built firearms and 80% receivers as firearms regardless if they are complete or not. This includes applying for serial numbers from the ATF. It's currently not a federal requirement to register a non-serialized firearm built from an 80% receiver. California is seeking to not only require any and all firearms to be registered, but is also putting a list together of home constructors and will be eventually setting up inspection stations for these home built firearms to ensure they meet "safety requirements".

To elaborate, the creation of an inspection program in addition to SB808 will not only violate the 2nd Amendment, it will also violate the 5th Amendment resulting in self-incrimination should a government worker inspecting your firearm deem it unsafe for any specific reason since they will be anti-gun opinionated.

Many people have already called Governor Jerry Brown's office requesting that he not sign SB808 into law, including myself. Our goal is to flood his office with calls requesting that he not sign into law and turn hundreds of law-abiding citizens into criminals.

Jerry Brown's Contact Info is:

Phone (916) 445-2841 Twitter: @JerryBrownGov Facebook: facebook.com/jerrybrown

Please help us ensure in a polite manner that this bill is vetoed, especially since it is election year. I feel that given the current circumstances, he may veto the bill if enough people speak out for the purpose of saving his politlcal career for a second term.

By the way, if anyone is a moderator and sees that I have not posted this thread correctly, could you please assist me on correcting it?

This is a very serious issue in CA for firearms owners and we need to get the word out as well as the help to get Brown to stop this bill and veto it.

Sounds like it’s time for y’all to put together SB7.62 - screw the anti-gunners. This is our fault for complying (and ultimately consenting to the destruction of the 2nd Amendment) with the background check garbage in the first place.

This includes applying for serial numbers from the ATF Bureau of Firearms, California Department of Justice.

Fixed that for you.

For the information of Californians who may own home built firearms there exists an identified work around. The proposed statute reads along the lines of "firearms not marked in accordance with USC *.*" Being the dufuses that California legislators are they did not look at that reference which is basically the Gun Control Act of 1968. Under that it is legal to manufacture your own firearm but it may not be sold unless you mark it according to BATFE specs which, you should look up yourself, but go something like builders name and city in letters at least .1 inch high and .03 inch deep blah blah blah ..

So the way they wrote the law, if you mark it yourself with your own serial number before January 2016 then it need not be registered.

As I understand it you need not put your own name on it but can use a fictitious name like "South Side Armory". The serial numbers must also be in English letters and numbers but no requirement exists that the number be unique so you can legally put the same number on all of your guns.

Here are some examples of serial numbers that not only meet the requirments of the law but also allow you to express your opinion of said law.

4C 65 61 72 6E 48 65 78 61 64 65 63 69 6D 61 6C

For every bad law written there will be a black market created to get around it, or a smarter lawyer to negate its effect.

For those of you out of state, think about this: how many people have been bussed into your state to get together at some pro-union anti-corporation rally about wages? I’m giving them a taste of their own medicine now: Having out of state people call them and tell them not to sign a bill that will hinder gun rights without the individual identifying him or herself and where they live. Even if you don’t live here, your voice can still be heard not to take away the Constitutional rights of your other fellow American countrymen.

I am tired of them screwing the system and getting away with it. It’s long past the time to fight fire with fire and I’m one of those people off gun forums making sure we do the same thing they do, making them whine and bitch that they cannot pass something that will hinder constitutional rights.

On a side note; anyone have any info on where to get detailed drawings on various standard firearms on the web? I have possessed in the past (since lost in an unfortunate boating accident) some firearms which need work and sometimes replacement parts, but can not locate any detailed reference guides to get the work done and can not afford a gunsmith to do the work.

Quite a bit of fine machining work, not helped by simple pictures on the web when you need to know the max threaded post height in a receiver to accept the securing screw when reassembled.

Mostly Colt and S&W pistols in .45ACP, but that may change in the future if I acquire possible replacements.

Not running away, a strategic withdrawal to the lifeboat when the ship is sinking from self sabotage. California is not the Alamo. When it falls, and it will, there will be joy on the left sadness on the right or whats left of it.

You need to remember Moonbeam was AG and in charge of the CA DOJ and its nefarious firearms registration, permitting, etc., stuff before becoming governor this latest time. I think it’s probably a done deal.

Hope you can escape before they close the gates.

Compliance with Tyranny is Treason.

I live in CA. Nothing will stop this Bill or any other Freedom Robbing Legislation from Passing into Law.

The State is gone. I just ignore anything the Democrats do.
