I remember General Patton requested that Beedle Smith not come to his funeral. I think there was another person but can’t recall their name.

Oddly, he didn’t mind “Monty” being there.

General Patton didn’t want Smith to visit him in the hospital. Mrs. Patton banned Smith from being an honorary pall bearer at the funeral. George Meeks, Patton’s orderly replaced Smith as a pall bearer.

I think Monty was in England and unable to attend.

Monty was a rival. Beedle Smith was, as far as Patton was concerned, a yapping dog, back-biting politician who hid behind Eisenhower's apron...

Whenever Patton got in trouble for being Patton during WWII it was Beedle who dropped the hammer on him (By order of Eisenhower) so naturally he considered him persona non grata...
