Can’t forget Asheville - the San Francisco of the South.
My brother lived there a while, and did not care for the place at all.
I agree. Didn’t they deny God 3 times at their 2012 convention? That is scary.
Dang, thought they already had, for at least 150 years.
I would have said just the same a few years ago, and believe me, I’m a proud conservative and a proud southerner-but the rot has made deep inroads here as well as anywhere. In fact, I’m afraid that too many in the south want so badly to show how “with the times” they are, that they may even be worse. The same propaganda is spread here through academia and media as elsewhere. Too many females in the south can’t wait to show their leftist cred (if they even have enough brains to think it through to that point, instead of just wanting to be one of the “cool kids”), and the sodomites here are chomping at the bit to have a great big boogeyman, in the shape of the “backwards” south, to make themselves out to be the victims, again.
And that in itself was propaganda, as the writer of the song-Bobby Gentry-said herself that she never knew what the object thrown off the bridge was, because that wasn’t the point. The point was the unthinking cruelty of people, in talking casual about Billy Joe’s death, not realism that the narrator loved him and was in pain.
You are correct -- and it used to be a sweet ol' hick town long, long ago when I was a kid and the family hiked the Blue Ridge. No more.
The one and only time I was in New Orleans many years ago, I was completely revolted by the atmosphere. The group I was with wanted to stroll down Bourbon Street in the early evening. I saw a woman in a bikini with a dog collar around her neck on a chain, inside a cage, on the sidewalk in front of a nightclub. Her hair was matted and she did not look at all happy or willing. Then I saw a couple coming out of a building when suddenly, the man turned around, backed the woman into the corner of the exit and punched her across the face. That was it for me. Never again.
Actually there are plenty of 20 and 30 something Southerners who have been raised on a steady diet of 'civil rights for homosexuals' who will support homosexual 'marriage' and anything else they bring up. Sadly, it will be the same kind of thing as the 'white guilt' that gave us Obama.
Yep, Mrsmel, I’m from MS, and I see it among my younger nieces, nephews, and cousins. Not to mention the older liberals who are so excited that they can ‘come out of the closet’ themselves and start pushing back against all those they consider ‘rednecks’ and ‘Jesus people’.
Exactly. People like you and me are dinosaurs here, as in rest of the US-—the world. We are truly “the remnant”, just as the Bible says. But that’s a good thing, to be a part of the remnant.
‘Got a granddaughter growing up in the SC upstate. Been going back and forth a couple of times a year for a bit now.
Maybe I make my own Dixie down there. Out to Limestone TN, where David Crockett was born...across the Great Smoky Mountains of NC, I’ve never run into any disagreeable types, yet. And it sure is pretty country.
What about Key West..? Man...that place is messed up...!
I live apart from the world more and more. But that’s OK, we are enjoined in the Bible to be separate,to be a “peculiar people”, peculiar from the rest of the world.
Considering what the world is now, I’m more than happy to be separate and peculiar to it, in obedience to the Bible.
I suspect many of us had hopes that the South was the last bastion of American values and would resist the depravity of Obunga and his ilk until the bitter end.
When the SHTF they won’t make it to the end of Day-1.
The South is still the last bastion of American values. Do not give up. There is still some fight left in that part of the country.
I’m on that road. With God’s help I’ll get there.
No kidding. I got attacked by a free-ranging cock there.
THAT GUY IS AS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW!!! On the other hand...I admit...that I have seen...some rather crooked arrows.
