This celebration of all things Aztec really puzzles me. Who were more oppressive in their rule of Mexico and Central America the Aztecs or the Spanish? I don't think the Spanish were practicing human sacrifice at the time. These college kids need to study their history.

Maybe Hartnell could invite them to drag a few hundred celebrants up to the roof of the student union to have their still-beating hearts cut out - all cultures being equal and all [except white europeans, of course].

I guess “Sixteen de Septembro” doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like “Cinqo de Mayo” huh? What a load of horse hockey.

On top of the misguided racist agenda, this is liberalism on display where the purpose of any social achievement is to set the stage for a future issue to out do it.

Liberalism is never satisfied, it never sleeps. As Obama learned from Alinsky and later taught himself, "The issue is the issue, the battle is the battle, the fight is the fight."

Aztec? You mean that group that was practically wiped out by Cortez? What’s the celebration for? Whatever. You can’t expect much from a culture that ripped out peoples’ hearts.

Times have changed. When I lived there, the paper was called The Monterey Peninsula Herald, Fort Ord was still a military base, Saul Alinsky lived in the Carmel Highlands and the Mediterranean Market was a great place to get a sandwich (I’m told it’s no longer there). So sad.
