"She’s still alive?"

Gotta admit, she did do a good job of turning a single hit song into a long career. Sort of like Harry Belafonte.

Whereas true talents, like Sidney Poitier, never really got the recognition they deserved. Not really. Can you imagine how BIG he’d be if he were in his twenties today instead of 87?

In terms of responsibility for damages, it doesn't really matter if she directly ordered her bodyguard to rough up the guy or not (though it certainly wouldn't help her case). Since the bodyguard was in her employ at the time she will be considered financially responsible regardless (the same as if you own a business and one of your employees beats up a customer). The face of the matter is the bodyguard clearly overreacted, the victim was in a public space and was obviously not posing an imminent threat to the safety of Ms. Labelle. My guess is that Ms. Labelle or her insurance company will be writing him a nice check....

” like Sidney Poitier,”

You mean “Sidney Porter?” Can’t recall who called him that, but there was a big stink from Sidney about it!

FTA: Opening statements came Tuesday after a 24-hour delay in the trial. The defense claimed the original jury wasn’t diverse enough and U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison agreed. All of the jurors were white. The judge dismissed that jury and ordered that another be selected from a larger pool. Tuesday morning a new jury from a panel of 30 people was selected, with one African-American woman serving on it.

So what is the minimum quota of blacks that is now required in order for a jury to be "diverse enough" in federal court?

Must all other races be represented or just blacks? Must there be an equal number of men and women? What about age, political and economic distribution?

Must there be some illegal aliens and convicted felons too? Illegal aliens, convicted felons and dead people are the most reliable Democrat voting blocks. You don't want a jury full of Republicans.

Any West Point cadet that is found in public with a blood alcohol content of 0.285% ought to be expelled, period.

As cadets, these individuals are being given an opportunity to be the potential future military and civilian leaders of this nation.

West Point ought to be reinforcing the highest moral standards... not holding faggot "weddings" in their chapel.
