For as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom, for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
Robert the Bruce, Declaration of Arbroath, 6 April 1320

To all of us who are puzzled over the pluses and minuses (the North Sea Oil Fields being thought nearly dry/the muzzy invasion of England). What’s in it for each side?

Looks like the NO's have it Based on 50,000 votes? I think several million people went to the polls.

A ‘no’ wouldn’t surprise me. Anyway, even if ‘yes’ i’d imagine Scotland will be part of the ‘Commonwealth Realms’ (unless they opt for a republic), with its own PM but the queen will remain as the Queen of Scotland. Actually if am not mistaken, HM has more Scottish blood than many other British monarchs - her mother came from an ancient aristocratic Scottish family.

Well, that was a whole lot of nothing. Now the media can return to your regularly-scheduled programming: Terrorism, disease and the midterms.

I’m not surprised. Most people vote their heads than their hearts.
Scottish nationalists got an unambiguous question posed before the voters and they lost. People just thought in the end the benefits of independence weren’t worth the risk.

Is there a Palm Beach County in Scotland? Any Philadelphia’s? Those 150% voter turnouts can work wonders! Any Al Frankens to find enough absentee ballots?

Why is the question Independence, with answers Yes or No?
Should the question not be Who should rule us? with answers GB or EU?
