This spelling of God that way is one of the sillier superstitions I have come across (and yes, fully acknowledging the rabbinical origins from a scripture text taken in isolation).
The meaning of that passage is to spread the fame of God all over the place, but let pagan gods be forgotten.
Sorry I have upset your sensibilities but I do that in deference to my ancestral background. If it offends you, I will not apologize and will continue to express my reference to G_d as such.
Just ignore it and move on.
Holy heck, on FR we respect each other’s religious customs. Keep your dislike of your fellow judeochristians’ customs to yourself. You know that not spelling the word is out of respect and awe.
Perhaps you are reading more into this than is warranted. In my case, it has nothing to do with superstition and everything to do with being respectful of other people's means of expressing reverence.
