Yes, yes, and more Yes. Unless you’ve been the victim of a black messenger on a bicycle, you don’t know what fear is. I’ve lived it for 35 years.

Failing to maintain control of one's vehicle...

So who had the right of way in this instance? You tell me. (I know you are a lot closer to the situation than I am)

the man is an assh@le and menace.

the idiot on the bike did did want to stop for a person in the pedestrian walk way.
He did not even brake for anyone but he tried to act slick and weave at out pf people walking with the light.

minutes earlier this idiot was seen flying thru central park at a dangerous speed.

he had brakes !

Unless your point is that no one will care BECAUSE she was white. I may have misinterpreted your comment.

I am aware bicyclists are allowed in sidewalks and I also know they are allowed on sidewalks on the GG bridge. I am also aware that there are laws preventing unsafe cycling when pedestrians are present. This is the law pertaining to bicycling on the GG bridge.

Cyclists MUST yield to pedestrians and use caution in the areas of the towers as there is limited space to maneuver and sight distances are constrained.

Pedestrians always have the right of way. Bicyclists are expected to follow the rules of the road just like motor vehicles. That would include obeying the speed limit and yielding to pedestrians.

I don’t know - except that it is considered the pedestrian always, always, always has the right of way. Just as it is in suburbanville. He was about to plow into another group of people when he swerved into the dead woman screaming “Get out of the way!” I’ve been yelled at by maniac cyclists - coming from uptown to downtown at extremely high speeds. Uptown is called such because it is at an elevated level. I almost lost my life to one of these maniacs on Lexington Avenue. Add to that the Chinese takeout drivers who drive on the sidewalks to deliver food and you would know how crazy it is.

This should have been cracked down on the 1970s.

dennisw: “Cyclist Jason Marshall, 31, stayed on the scene after crashing into Tarlov and has not been charged. Police say Marshall, a saxophonist from East Harlem, was riding in a bike lane when he swerved to avoid colliding with a group of pedestrians and hit Tarlov.”

The statement needs to be ammended to " Egomaniac high-Speed Cyclist Jason Marshall.. "
And should include the fact that his bike has " no freaking brakes , a common safety feature ".
Marshall should be charged with vehicular involuntary homicide (true and accurate ).
Brakes are a safety feature for a reason .

Here in the Peoples Republic of Portland Oregon, they also think they own the roads and want cars out of their way.

lol! The Peoples' Republik of Kalifornistan just passed a law requiring motorists to ensure a minimum of 3' clearance when passing a bicyclist. Failure to do so can result in a $35 fine and more if there is a collision. I am pretty good at spacial awareness. Even so, I don't think I could tell if there was 3' space between my front fender and a bicyclist, nor do I believe any law enforcement officer from a distance could either.

3-foot buffer zones for cyclists to take effect across California

The pedestrian.

I read on Red State this morning that the bike had no brakes.

Erik Erickson had a great editorial about bike riders and their arrogant sense of liberal privilege. The bike riders in urban environments are a menace. They don't follow any rules of the road and are outraged if they get hit by a motorist when running a light, or stop sign. I can't help but notice that I don't see very many bike riders in the predominantly Black parts of town.

Hi. I really appreciate it. All I have is freepers piling on me. I am probably wrong I guess. But I still want to see what comes out. The cyclist seems like an educated and respectable guy. Not some low life. We shall see but you seem more correct than me on this :)

As crowded as NYC is, you would think they be more afraid of hitting an obstacle and getting badly hurt in a fall themselves.

“No freaking brakes” - umm, where did it say that he was riding a fixed speed bike? I looked up the bike and it appears to have gears and brakes (as opposed to a “fixie” where you use your legs to slow down and stop). Just wondering.
