What about the phantom limb syndrome. You still FEEL a lost limb that obviously is gone. Is that the same as feeling you should have genitalia you do not? How about any other mental images you hallucinate? Does society treat schizophrenics who ‘see’ things as normal? How is ‘seeing’ yourself as something you genetically are not any different? Why is it easier for an entire society to go along with the illusion than it is to admit it is a mental illusion confined to the individual? Playacting stops for other things-kids thinking they’re Superman for instance- but everyone must play along with adult fantasies/mental illness? Poor crazy bastards- pity them, or laugh...I do.

I would make two significant distinctions between BIID and circumcision:

1. Circumcision does not maim, which is to say, it does not destroy the function of an organ. The penis will still have perfect functionality; some claim there is a bit of impaired sensiivity, but others say that is compensated for by improved longer-lasting erectile function; so it's not like an amputation and more like (by way of analogy) a decorative body piercing

2. Circumcision can be additionally justified by an objective therapeutic advantage, in that a circumcised penis is provably less likely to transmit a range of STD's.

This holds true just for normal male foreskin cicumcisions, by the way; it does not apply to something radically different, which is female "circumcision" ---actually genital mutilation --- which dangerously impairs the healthy function of the sexual/reproductive structures involved.

“Note that corrupt politicians are promising civil rights to protect perversions in order to win votes. The problem is that federal laws concerning civil rights must be reasonably based on enumerated constitutional protections which the states have amended to the Constituton.”

Liberal judges are rewriting the constitution, no lawmakers required.

I was at Hard Rock Café with two coworkers in Atlanta and our server turned out to be one. Looked pretty convincing, until he opened his mouth and a deep baritone voice spewed out.

My Mormon coworker was horrified. He couldn’t have melted further into the upholstery if he’d been sewn into it.

Good server, though.

Thank you for the common sense explanation.

"But the courts have grown to call any law which regulates their conduct “irrational.”

The reason that the courts get away with doing so is because voters are not being taught the difference between legislative and judicial powers.

I think the difference, among other things, is the thought process leading up to a circumcision.

Most people can objectively weigh the pros and cons of a circumcision, and make an informed decision. Not much emotion to it.

But if you listen to a transgendered person talk, they yearn an operation, and feel somehow incomplete until it is done...and it becomes a life goal. And they believe that it will ‘fix’ the way they feel about themselves.

So one is done for medical/sanitation reasons based on an informed decision...the other is an act of desperation.

Exactly, but in this crazy world, it is now a ticket to membership in America’s latest and greatest victim group.

Since this issues seems to be getting increasing attention lately I was wondering how large this group actually is. According to something called the Williams Institute at UCLA, there are 700,000 transgender individuals in the US. I don't know how reliable that figure it--it seems awfully high.

I had a student last year, female, who was undergoing treatment to appear to be a male. I didn't discuss it with her, just had to keep in mind she wanted to have male pronouns used of herself. I can't say I understand it. It seems like taking lesbianism to an extreme.

Nobody, these days wants to talk of consequences and effects upon the conscious mind. From political correctness, one would think these people would be very determined and be able to take all the effects in stride. But the truth is that that there are consequences and, just like anyone taking a big step, there are doubts. And the consequences and the doubts eat away at the mind.

Sometimes the surgeries do not go well or last very long. In the case of a girl, becoming a guy - they find out they really don't like the guy world. Or a guy becoming a girl, they find out they don't fit into the girl world. And those wanting to become an "it" sometimes find out there are too few places to fit in.

The media makes it look like being transgendered is easy and easy on ones life. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I want bird feathers implanted in my scalp because I've always felt I was a bird.

With feather implants I'll BE a bird. And I'll finally be able to fly.

How dare anyone think that's mental illness. /s

I also insist the zoo make a bird cage for me at taxpayers expense and for my friends who also think they're birds. We flock together...

What about circumcision? It also involves cutting off a bit of an (otherwise perfectly healthy) organ? Is that also mental illness?

What about preventative appendectomies? There's a health and hygiene REASON for circumcision whether you agree with it or not. So your comparison is way out in left field.
