High court denies gay marriage appeals [legal immediately in IN, OK, UT, VA and WI]

he Supreme Court has turned away appeals from five states seeking to prohibit same-sex marriages, paving the way for an immediate expansion of gay and lesbian unions.

The justices on Monday did not comment in rejecting appeals from Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The court's order immediately ends delays on marriage in those states. Couples in six other states should be able to get married in short order.

That would make same-sex marriage legal in 30 states and the District of Columbia.

But the justices have left unresolved for now the question of same-sex marriage nationwide.

There are 38 states in support now.

Looking at it another way, they cannot all be blue or red states, there aren’t 38 blue states maybe only 22, so 16 or so would have to be red states. I wouldn’t think you could find quite that many in the same sex marriage camp.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Those states don't support it. They reject it. The Supremes overturned their vote.

That's why they don't go for an out and out Constitutional Amendment. They know they can't get enough states to ratify it.

The people of Virginia, and their elected representatives, enshrined traditional marriage into the state constitution to protect it from the attacks of the left.

Two Democrats were able to short circuit our legal system and overturn the will of the people, forcing gay marriage on Virginia.

The trick is that only the Governor and the Attorney General have legal standing to defend the state constitution, and they refused to do their sworn duty. This forced a default judgement in favor of the activist group that was all teed up to file suit as soon as these two assumed office. The Virginia case did not discuss the merits of the argument, it was entirely one-sided. The AG went so far as joining those opposing the constitution, and refusing to appoint any counsel to serve in defense of the constitution.

It wasn’t a trick really, but simply a traitorous act against the State constitution, for which the AG should be impeached and disbarred. But he wasn’t.

That is how this tyranny was imposed in Virginia.

It is time for Christians of America to think spiritually. This is a flawed world and America has chosen to reject God. It is the normal scheme of things in the history of the human world. I love this nation’s founding, but it is no more. Time to cling to the Lord and pray for the souls of those in the middle and our children. America is dying.

12 states have passed laws allowing same sxex marriage. The rest of the states have either passed laws banning it or have refused to recognize it.

Right. But that doesn't mean they'd ratify a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting it or call for an Article V convention to do the same.

The only positive here is the surprise some people are in for when they die and face the Lord thinking they were “married”.

There’s only one definition of marriage that matters, and it is the definition that will both win in the end and last for eternity. It’s God’s definition and that is one man, one woman.

Amen to that!

The "Progressives" in this country think they have won a victory, and in the eyes of the world they may have. But in the long run, the "sweet" taste of this worldly "victory" will turn bitter, and the true Victor will reign--even over those who, "full of passionate intensity", celebrate the "progress" of their "rough beast" as it slouches its way toward Gomorrah to be born!

TURNING and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;

Surely the Second Coming is at hand.

The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out

When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi

Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert

A shape with lion body and the head of a man,

A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,

Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it

Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again; but now I know

That twenty centuries of stony sleep

Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,

Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Perversion wins another round. We are headed straight down to the bottom of the cesspool. I will make a bet that pedophiles and bestiality will be legal before 2020.

So they let lower court judges overturn the will of the people?

Anthony Kennedy wrote his opinion in the last gay marriage case specifically to have that effect.

The government won’t have to force the Churches. They will choose to do so on their own.

That's just not going to happen.

IMHO you will live to eat those words. Have you so quickly forgotten Obamacare and abortifacients?

Andrew Jackson sad “Let him enforce it.”

Why can’t the states say the same thing?

As far as Utah, I suspect the biggest problem they are going to face is not SCOTUS, but the LDS church. That is going to be rather interesting.

That said, I could somewhat tolerate a ruling from SCOTUS, that legalized this*, if it included the following:

Religious institutions are free to decide their own rules on marriage ceremonies and cannot be forced to change them, in accordance with the first amendment.

What I fear, is the idea that churches will be forced to go against their beliefs and perform gay marriages.

Coming next will be “federal judges” ordering various pastors at conservative churches that refuse to acknowledge sodomites’ “right to marry” performed by those churches.

I imagine they’ll pick the most conservative churches first, probably Baptist. And I can see them file suit against a very small church and it won’t be able to afford the legal fees.

This is not about gay marriage. This is about destroying Christianity. This will be the true test. If the church does not publicly stand up against this, then it’s my hope that God smites them first.

More relevant to this issue: Consider what might have happened had the SC refused to hear Loving v. Virginia and left that issue up to the states.

It’s the Loving v. Virginia opinion that started all this. Is being opposed to that opinion allowed here?
