Monrovia - Six U.S. military planes arrived in the Ebola hot zone Thursday with more Marines, as West Africa's leaders pleaded for the world's help in dealing with "a tragedy unforeseen in modern times."

"Our people are dying," Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma lamented by videoconference at a World Bank meeting in Washington. He said other countries are not responding fast enough while children are orphaned and infected doctors and nurses are lost to the disease.

Alpha Conde of Guinea said the region's countries are in "a very fragile situation."

"This disease is today an international threat and deserves an international response," he said, speaking through a translator.

So ridiculous. I have a buddy from college who did 2 tours in Iraq and came out unscathed and is now deploying to Liberia. He’s NOT happy about being in Africa and is questioning the military’s role there.

n a few weeks the Army will take over from them.

“The 100 troops — mostly Marines, along with some Navy corpsmen — are part of a force of up to 3,600 U.S. troops that could deploy to West Africa to help efforts to stem the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. The outbreak has so far claimed more than 3,000 lives and could infect 1.4 million more.
So far, about 350 troops are on the ground now, running laboratories, setting up treatment facilities, training healthcare workers and assisting with logistics.

The Marine unit will provide supply and transportation assistance for the anti-Ebola effort until Army units arrive later this month to take over the possibly year-long mission.”

I would take a dishonorable discharge before I would go to Africa. I foresee many of these troops contracting Ebola and bringing it home to the US. Obama’s plan is working.

I pray none of our people come down with this.

We can't fight ISIS on the ground but can "fight" Ebola on the ground. Talk about screwed up priorities.

I am convinced that president Obola will never finish his term. In my view we must demonstrate by the millions in total civil disobedience and force him out. He is not right in the head. The parasites will support the him and that is it.

Gee, no Peace Corps, no one from Organizing for America, nor CDC, nor . . . any group that worships Obola is sent into viral harm's way. They're too valuable to the regime. Send the grunts to die horrible deaths . . . for the political benefit of Obola.

FAD.

Sending our military into this? Homicidal to our troops and suicidal to our country.

We are living a Sci fi movie channel apocalypse “B” movie.

Wait for the 1/4 millions illegals a week flooding Texas because Obola has hit Central America.

“Obola had signed their death warrants.”

When the first US Soldier becomes infected, all hell SHOULD break loose, but the networks, The View, the Daily Show, the Late Night Comics, and Lebron’s Twitter Account will do their best to mock anyone that cares.

Now, on the other hand, if a REPUBLICAN were in office right now, those very same people would be screaming BLOODY FRICKEN MURDER about this.

This is insane. I can see sending highly trained medical personnel going into hot zones to test various treatments and preventative techniques, accompanied by some security forces for their protection.
But what do these soldiers know about conducting studies in hot zones? Are the soldiers going to be wearing level 4 protective suits? These soldiers are going to be coming back and more than a few will be infectious. Some may not show overt signs but still be infectious, especially via sexual intercourse.
This is intentional, no question.

The military is supposed to set up 17 MASHes to treat patients as well as other related tasks according to an article in read in Wall Street Journal I read a couple of weeks ago.

The Russians and Chinese want to be thought of as Great Powers where is their help in this situation?

Are MASH’s set up to handle something this virulent? I’m nervous for our troops.
