A firing squad still makes more sense. Dead is dead...no matter how you do it.
You could save money by just moving a Liberian into the cell with the condemned.
How much was spent for the popcorn machine?
How about a half dozen M1 Garand rifles, each with a 30:06 round, one of which is a dud?
Cheaper and reliable. Works 100% of the time. Fast and humane.
Gas chamber is out. Lethal injection has turned into a liberal nightmare. Nobody uses Old Sparky anymore.
Put a bullet into the heart of the matter and get the Job done.
Can't wait to give 'er a test run.
Good backup procedure would be a hammer....
Good Lord; just go back to the rope, if they are afraid it will break just use wire rope.
“The renovations and protocol rewrite were ordered by DOC Director Robert Patton after the April 29 execution of Clayton Lockett, who writhed on the gurney, mumbled and tried to lift his head before his execution was eventually called off. Lockett died 43 minutes after the procedure began.
Lockett had been convicted of shooting Stephanie Nieman, 19, with a sawed-off shotgun and watching as two accomplices buried her alive in 1999.”
I prefer this - slow and painful, not swift and painless.
Oh, I’m proud to be an Okie from . . ..
This will do.
Oldplayer
I bet I could design an awesome death chamber. Red paint, gas flames along the walls, screams and fiendish laughter piped in through high-definition speakers, and the executioners would be in clown suits. Sort of like a Democratic party convention.
If it doesn’t have a trap door and a noose 20’ above the floor, it’s not foolproof.
Millions of people get millions of injections every day without incident. Wham bam thank you ma’am.
All the palaver about precision, backups, etc. is an attempt to make the process seem more complex than it is in order to lodge specious arguments against every little element of the process.
Whither the gas chamber?
Sooner or later a method will be devised to execute without the use of needles and then the coddles of criminals will be out of luck.
My Vet charged me 65 bucks to put down my dog a while back. Surely the trash on Oklahoma death row should not cost much more. Lets say we would have to double or triple the dose, then we should still get it done for under 200 dollars or so, plus mileage.
Why don’t they just put these guys down the same way they do at the pound with strays? The left never has a problem with the methods used there.
