AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A federal appeals court on Tuesday reinstated Texas' tough voter ID law for the November election, which the U.S. Justice Department had condemned as the state's latest means of suppressing minority voter turnout.
The ruling by the New Orleans-based 5th Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocks last week's ruling by U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos in Corpus Christi, who determined the law unconstitutional and similar to a poll tax designed to dissuade minorities from voting.
The 5th Circuit did not rule on the merits of the law; instead, it determined it's too late to change the rules for the upcoming election. Early voting starts Oct. 20.
The law remains under appeal. For now, the ruling is a key victory for Republican-backed photo ID measures that have swept across the U.S. in recent years. The Texas law, considered the toughest of its kind in the nation, requires that an estimated 13.6 million registered Texas voters will need one of seven kinds of photo identification to cast a ballot.

I remember when the case was filed about 18 months ago. The RADICAL JUDGE said that she would hear arguments in September, 2014. Why wait so long? Obvious now, she already had her mind made up and the idea was to time the ruling JUST PERFECTLY so as to be difficult to appeal.
It is SICKENING to see our court system ABUSED this way, and even more sickening to not hear ANYONE (other than me) speak out about it.

Not to mention to fly on a commercial airliner or buy pseudoephedrine. Not only is it BS, it's provably so. Show me one leftist who objected to the photo ID requirement for boarding a commercial flight or for buying pseudoephedrine on the grounds that these requirements were racist, or would disproportionately harm minorities and the elderly, when those requirements were put in place, and I'll at least credit that person with making the objection in good faith. I've put this challenge in forums where leftists post, and no one pointed to such a person, or claimed to be such a person.

Early voting starts next Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.....
There’s generally no voter ID for early voting. You fill in the ballot, sign it and mail it in. So, early voting is irrelevant to this issue, unless Texas has a different procedure. The issue I am concerned with is that the next court up the list will swoop in at the last minute and reinstate the injunction. If the decision is announced a couple days before the election, it makes it harder to do that.
That`s what I am thinking, I suspect the Liberal Roberts Court will overturn it any day now.
Dunno if the legal protocol allows it, but maybe WI and the other 3 or 4 states recently stomped under the boot of judicial fascism oughta hotfoot it down to N’Orleans ? !

Good point after 9-11 you have to show 5 documents, or a bunch of original documents that add up to so many points each, just to register a car or get a copy of your drivers license.
