Great! Now I can go visit my royal cousin who just told me I’m going to inherit $30 million dollars!
Nigeria Declared ebola free after 6 weeks, and equals 42 days, and not 21 days we are told is the “all clear” line.
We should use the same standard of 42 days. Double it. If only for the sake of “better safe than sorry”.
such a sad affair when Nigeria used more of what was once celled COMMON Sense...than we.... here... in America have THUS FAR
Dearest Sirs or Madame,
With humble heart and profound gratitude, I may desire to extend my greatest joy to you and your family, kindest sirs. May God truly love your gentle soul as I send this letter or tremendous outpouring and hope.
As you know from the news papers from the British Broadcasting Centre, a heartless disease has been ravaging Africa. My great second cousin who had amassed tremendous wealth from diamond business in Sierra Leone is trying to escape to Nigeria which is now free of Ebola, God has truly blessed the land. All of his money, sum total of 45,000,000 $ US, have been placed in a secret trust fund and he seeks to secretely transfer 10,000,000$ to an American bank.
If you seek to cooperate, he is willing to transfer you 2,000,000$ promptly. But you must send your financial routing and accouny numbers before Wednesday.
With hopeful heart, kindly yours,
Robert Mufasa Jr., III.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Thanks for the ping!
What the heck are you talking about?
Or, to be more specific, how exactly could someone “sneak in from Ebola land” to Nigeria?
The reports I read indicated that people trying to sneak into Nigeria were subject to being shot. Maybe I mis-remember, maybe I’m confused with our border policies, but that’s what I remember.
I think your link is actually two separate stories. First, Liberia ordered shooting people trying to cross its borders - though that had nothing to do with people coming in from Nigeria, as Liberia does not share a border with Nigeria (and in any event, why would anyone try to sneak in from Nigeria to Liberia during the Ebola outbreak?). Second, Cameroon closed its border with Nigeria.
Yes. I was confused.
Ebola is endemic. There is a wild-life reservoir in these countries. They can’t be called Ebola free.
It's not endemic in Nigeria. There's never been an outbreak there. The outbreak in Nigeria this year was caused by a single individual traveling from Liberia.
So the wild life reservoir in adjacent countries doesn’t cross the border?
I'm sure wildlife crosses to some extent. But the good news is that none of the countries that border Nigeria have ever had an ebola outbreak either. Africa is a pretty big place.
