Another poll shows Cory Gardner ahead in Colorado. Is the seat slipping away from Democrats?
The Washington Post ^ | October 22, 2014 | Nia-Malika Henderson

For weeks, Rep. Cory Gardner (R) and Sen. Mark Udall (D) have been statistically tied in polls of the Colorado Senate race, with Gardner in the lead but well within the margin of error. Now a new poll, taken over the last four days, shows Gardner leading by seven points.

According to the USA Today/Suffolk University poll, Gardner is at 46 percent to Udall's 39 percent. A September poll from the same pollster had Gardner up by just one, 43-42. Both polls have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent, meaning neither shows Gardner with what can technically be considered a firm lead. But seven points is his biggest edge since an outlier poll last month showed him up by eight points.

I reached out to David Paleologos, the director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, to ask him about the state of the race and what has changed since September:

"It's not all Udall's fault; it's an anti-Washington D.C. feeling. But it's not hurting Gardner as much," he said. "The other part is that local news that took place in Colorado over the weekend about the teenagers trying to enlist in (the Islamic State) and they lived in Denver suburbs. That was a huge Colorado news story, and I think a lot of people were immediately tuned in. Voting is emotional, and when you have high anxiety it gets picked up in the polling. It could settle down."

I think that the article is correct, Cory Gardner has taken command of this race. Udall’s mistakes have contributed, but the anti-establishment trend has hurt him even more. Those Denver teens trying to join ISIS really hit a nerve in the state, especially among women.

Steve King gave Trey Gowdy an ass kicking when Gardner's gang tried to push amnesty before a hearing.

Rep. Cory Gardner Voting Record

Voted in favor of King Amdt to DHS Appropriations bill to prevent amnesty by prosecutorial discretion in 2013 Rep. Gardner voted in favor of the King amendment to the FY2014 DHS Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2217). This amendment would have prohibited the Department of Homeland Security from using funds appropriated by Congress to finalize, implement, administer, or enforce the "Morton Memos". The Morton Memos were a series of three memos issued in 2011 that authorized the use of prosecutorial discretion and/or deferred action to provide amnesty to certain illegal aliens, particularly those brought here as children by their illegal alien parents. The amendment, offered by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), passed by a 224-201 vote (6 June 2013).

Can you source your claim?

I watched the trailer but can’t see the Kelly File vid right now. Not enough bandwidth on my ISP I guess. What I was looking to have clarified was the claim that Gardner supports amnesty. I did a search and can’t find much either way on it. Hopefully the poster will respond.

Gardner’s stance on amnesty wasn’t addressed in the Kelly file video.
Here’s an article that explains the trailer.

This is great news. I hope Gardner has been playing clips from the interview of Udall who could not name his 3 favorite books or the last song he listened to and then he proclaimed that he was “brain dead”. That was horrible. I even kinda felt sorry for the jerk.

Know what scares the crap outa me? This year everybody in CO votes by mail. The ballots have been mailed to all the registered voters. If people have moved or just don’t want to vote and throw their ballots in the trash or give them to their liberal brother-in-law, Udall’s vote count goes up. That whole process is tailor-made for vote fraud. I guarantee you that a lot of people are going to get “unwanted” ballots from disinterested friends and family, fill them out, marked straight a DemocRAT ticket, and mail them in.

If I’m extremely paranoid about this, somebody correct me.

Oh, no kidding. No, you are not paranoid.

Mail-in ballots are convenient. However, I would be perfectly happy to have to walk to the local elementary school to vote if it meant that there was less chance of cheating.

I predict that we will eventually be able vote via the Internet. By logging into some website. An even greater opportunity to cheat.
