Gabby Giffords, the former Democratic Congressman from Arizona who was shot in the head at a campaign rally in 2010, has come under fire recently for exploiting her horrific experience for political gain. Using her celebrity as a famous victim of gun violence, Giffords has created a Super PAC, Americans for Responsible Solutions, focused on gun control legislation.

Good Column by Bruce Thornton. I can only quibble with one sentence.
Giffords was not shot at a campaign rally, she was holding a “Congress Critter on the mall” or some such thing in the Safeway parking lot. Something I have read she did regularity.

I think she is now simply a useful tool for her husband and others. They use her in the same manner that James Brady was used by his wife and the Brady Campaign, to generate income and political influence.

I agree. Her husband was given special privileges like all the astronauts have gotten. He is an idiot who never once had to fire a weapon. I was told he owns a Glock 30 that has the exact magazine size he wants others to not have more then.
