Apple CEO Cook comes out: 'I'm proud to be gay'

Apple CEO Tim Cook came out Thursday, announcing that he is gay in a column in Bloomberg Businessweek.

"Let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," he wrote.

Cook has not publicly discussed his sexual preferences before now, despite some rumors and speculation that he is gay.

A year ago he announced support for a federal law which would have protected workers from facing discrimination based on their sexual orientation.

"For too long, too many people have had to hide that part of their identity in the workplace," he wrote at the time.

The fool is 54. Why did that not come out in his disclosure statement, PRIOR to being named CEO?

Exactly. It’s not exactly a gutsy move. My brother came out in the 80’s. Of course, he worked in Hollyweird so it wasn’t a big deal.

I have never understood and have never liked the fact that gays feel a compulsion to tell everyone in public, their sexual orientation. I don’t go around advertising my preference. Why do they think they have to overtly rub theirs in the faces of 98.5% of the population who aren’t? I am not interested in their sexual persuasion and I’m positive the public is not interested in mine.

If you asked me, it hurts themselves more than keeping their private business, well, private.

where does sexuality belong in the workplace? Is it a cruising place for him...this dingus just opened himself up for a coworker lawsuit....not too bright

gay pride = proud of being anally penetrated by another mans penis

oh joy....funny how they co-opt the Christian symbol of the rainbow and flaunt Gods warning with something so hideous and perverted.

yeah - it's prideful alright - he'll hit the floor of hell as to leave a greasy spot

PHOOEY!!!!

If Cook refuses to repent, he at least should not blaspheme against God by attributing his “gayness” to Him!

And he also should not push the “gay” obsession with “design” onto Apple!!!!

If just being homosexual where all this is about, then I could leave him to his preferences and we could go on. But sadly, you will notice that he (and people like him) are not allowing us to know a simple fact, but they must tell us how “proud” they are of the choice they have made. And, we now know that such people too often want to force the rest of us to actually approve of their choice. And woe to anyone, such as myself, who find their choice to morally wrong and who politely decline to be an enabler of this choice and its downstream consequences.

I am coming to fully understand the consequences to society. Again, the libertarian in me sez that this is a private matter, but I also know why God says at some point He will collectively judge a society. Often when God warns of consequences of violation of His moral law, it is too easy to read the warning as coming from some “angry” God. But most of the time the warning is of the consequences that will naturally come to a society where too many people commit too much sin.

To be clear, God defines sexual morality. He defines homosexual relations as a sin. We now live in a society where people can suffer tremendous social and now even legal pressure for simply acknowledging that fact in public. If there is any doubt, ask the ex-CEO of Mozilla.

BFD, if this was 10 years ago, he would be scared crapless that someone would find out.

I thought he came out years ago. I thought it was common knowledge that Cook was openly gay.

Tim Cook being gay may have been the worst-kept secret in America.

Personally, I’ve never understood why anyone would take “pride” in their sexual proclivities, especially aberrant ones.
