Cruz: If We Nominate Another Dole, McCain or Romney "Millions Of People Will Stay Home"

"We need to learn from history; we need to look to history, what works and what doesn't. One thing is clear: If Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney, let me be clear, all three of those are good honest men, decent men, they are patriots, but if we run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney, we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day."

This is a silly new trend of telling people that they are “directly responsible” for something negative if they don’t participate.

I always vote, but quit speaking to people as though they are slaves and you own them, you don’t.

As Ted Cruz cites the roll call of failures..Bob, John, or Mitt..I thought of the great Cole Porter song "Tom, Harry, or Dick.!"

Surely some FReepers can write lyrics for Cruz to use..

I've been saying the same basic thing for ages. We once gave the GOPe control of the House, the Senate, the Presidency and a majority on the Supreme Court. They threw it away as fast as they could as if it were poison. They did absolutely nothing with the awesome power givne to them. They actually seem to resent voters for putting them in that position

You hit the nail on the head. Who was the man who arranged for the GOP-E takeover in the House? Clue it was in 1996. John Boehner, House Majority Leader Dick Armey, House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, & Congressman Bill Paxon were involved. Boehner was the ring leader of the coup. Paxon was to take Newt's position as Speaker.

Bill Paxon

Just being a Republican is enough to attract my vote. I don’t vote FOR Republicans, I vote AGAINST Democrats. The Left, and by extension their party, is the most destructive force in the world at this time. THEY MUST BE STOPPED. I’ll take a milquetoast Republican over a radical socialist any day.

The Republicans at this time mostly suck, and the party needs to be cleaned out and taken over by pro-liberty conservatives who aren’t timid and stupid. But do that in the primaries, not in the general election.

So I’ll stand by what I said - If you’re a conservative, and you vote for someone who has no chance, or don’t vote, you’re not helping. That’s not even arguable, it’s simple logic - If you don’t vote against the Democrat, or vote for some 3rd party candidate who will do nothing but siphon votes from the only candidate who has a chance of beating the Democrat, you’re helping the Democrat.

I don’t vote FOR Republicans, I vote AGAINST Democrats.

Oh, really?

So tell us, Cymbaline -- what did you vote FOR in order to vote "against" Obama? Here in California, when I voted "against" uber-liberal Democrats Cruz Bustamonte and Jerry Brown by voting for uber-liberal RINOs Arnold Schwarzenegger and Romney-sycophant Meg Whitman -- what was I voting FOR?

You believe in voting "against." Do you believe in the tooth fairy, too?

Here's an idea, Cymbaline. STOP confusing intent with action.

By the way, Cymbaline -- had Romney won and he was implementing all of Obama's agenda, from ObamaCare to gay marriage to the environmentalist agenda to on-demand abortion, would you be here being accountable for it? BECAUSE YOU VOTED FOR IT.

You have never and never will vote "against" a friggin' thing except in your imagination.

Republican voters have shown time and again that they will gladly shoot themselves in the foot rather than vote for someone who's not conservative enough.

{^) LOLOL!!! Stop it, Cymbal, yer killin' me! {^)

YOU, who will vote for a stone-cold functional Democrat leftist in a Republican costume every time, and who has probably done so loyally. You're probably a big part of why California is so far left -- Schwarzenegger was a Republican! You probably voted for him, too. So you sneer about leaving "Californicate" on your FReeper page! {^)

What a sense of humor you have, to accuse me and many here of "shooting themselves in the foot" because they refused to vote for what, if it WON, they would abhor!

You crack me up! How long are you going to fall for "Heads I win, Tails You Lose?"

"Shooting themselves in the foot" -- from a guy who advocates voting for 5-square Democrat Romney "against" Obama! Just vote yourself right into slavery, you dope!

Well, bless your heart.

You’ll sit at home harumphing with your arms folded if the candidate isn’t perfect enough for you, and I’M the one who believes in the tooth fairy? Piss off.

I believe in defeating Democrats. You don’t. You and people like you believe that allowing Democrats to win will advance conservatism. YOU’RE the one who believes in the tooth fairy.

I wish the GOPE was more interested in defeating Democrats than stomping on conservatives.

Unfortunately many of the ones telling us to vote “lesser evil” also oppose running conservative candidates against incumbent RINO’s.
