Mitt Romney: GOP Senate Will Put Immigration Reform On President's Desk
Huffington Post ^ | Nov 2nd, 2014 | Arthur Delaney

WASHINGTON -- Former Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney said Sunday that if Republicans win the U.S. Senate after Tuesday's election, they will send immigration reform legislation to the president's desk.

"You'll see a provision first of all to secure the border, second of all to deal with those who have come here illegally and third [to] make sure our immigration policies are open and transparent," Romney said on "Fox News Sunday."

"That's going to happen," Romney continued. "You're going to see a bill actually reach the desk of the president if we finally have someone besides Harry Reid sitting in the Senate. We're going to get it done."

Too late. He’ll issue an EO the day after the election.

you are right. Too many here don’t see the difference between reform and amnesty.

Close the border and deport...What we do not need is input from the author of RomneyCare...At this point, Romney just needs to go away...

"People seem to be reacting to the headline rather than reading the article.

Sometimes I wonder if they've even read that.

"But to scream that this article provides some sort of smoking gun that a Republican Senate will equal mass amnsety equivalent to that proposed by Ried and Obama is ludicrous."

Quite right. Securing the border has always been the first order of business, which is exactly what the left does not want. The thing is if 0bama does issue an EO, it would not be an end run around the need for reform. Those cards can be taken away as easily as they are issued.

There IS no difference between “reform” and amnesty. One word is just more honest.

To quote myself from FR posts in the past, “if the GOP is complicit in amnesty, they will cease to be a national political party as of the day after the next election.” Poof! they will be gone as a meaningful political entity.

Don’t think it can happen to a major/majority party in a western “democracy?” check out the Progressive Conservatives in Canada. Mulroney’s majority went extinct in one election.

If the Republicans win on Tuesday, they should make an announcement: Allpeople in the country illegally have 2years to pack and leave. Any illegals discovered in the US after President Cruz takes office will be forcible deported. All their assets will be seized to help defray the costs of their deportment.

No more pussyfooting around.

This should amuse you.

This is the REAL Mitt Romney on illegals.

My jaw dropped when I saw Mitt denying his illegals in the 2007 debate, and was not surprised what came of it a week later (well, surprised but not totally shocked).

Governor Mitt and wife Ann, were interacting with the Guatemalan illegals at their private home for 10 years. The landscaper that the illegals worked for, was a naturalized Colombian himself, personally chosen by Mitt, (A naturalized Colombian, Guatemalan illegals, and a sitting Governor during 4 years of that period), IDs better have been checked.

In December of 2006, the republican Governor was exposed, and suffered national embarrassment for using illegals for 10 years.

In December of 2007, in a national debate, Rudy Giuliani accused Mitt Romney of having run a “Sanctuary Mansion”. On national TV, Mitt Romney indignantly denied the claim.

A few days after the debate, the Boston Globe decided to look again at Mitt’s house, and guess what, they found Guatemalan illegals, they were working for the same Colombian, MITT HAD NEVER FIRED THEM!

Ten years and a national scandal, turned into 11 years, and into a second national scandal, with all the same players, the same “contractor”, Guatemalan illegals, and the same Mitt Romney and his wife interacting with them at their home during the week.

It really doesn't matter whether Mitt has credibility with you or not. Boehner and others are chomping at the bit to pass something since the voters matter little anymore.

So prepare yourself for them to make a big deal about border enforcement, followed with amnesty (they won't call it that) and then citizenship so Obama won't veto it.

I'm not sure how this can be stopped and the republicans want to be the ones to pass amnesty, so they can prove to Zuckerburg and others that the republicans are not nearly as bad as they think they are.

They are massive fools and this will permanently harm our country. My only recourse is to never vote republican again.

The GST was pivotal in destroying the PC Party in Canada and the GOP wants to do that in the United States. I’ve even seen stories promoting it on Fox News in recent years...

Are you kidding?

The first steps will be legalizing 34 million illegals and offering them citizenship and chain migration, they could being another 100 million here.

They’ll never get around to securing the border, we have seen this dance before.

We don’t believe them. We do not believe that these people who want open borders and love illegal immigration will ever, ever secure the border.

They passed laws like he is promising in the 80’s and 90’s and they never did squat.

Why should we believe them?

The bill should be a single thing: Secure the Border

Maybe in a few years, if that actually happens we can work on the other things.
