A 65-year-old man who was fatally injured while trick-or-treating with his 4-year-old son when they were struck by a vehicle in Irvine was a longtime immigration attorney, according to his website and posts on Facebook.
John Roger Alcorn was pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m. Friday at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, according to the county coroners office.
The accident happened at 7:10 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Yale Loop, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
Alcorns son was critically injured in the incident. Authorities had no update on the boys condition Monday morning, but he was last listed as critical but stable, Irvine police said.
Alcorn was admitted to the California Bar in 1980 and practiced immigration and nationality law in Irvine, according to the State Bar of California.
Alcorns adult daughter, Sophie Alcorn, is also an attorney, working for his law firm, according to the website.
The female driver of the vehicle, a Mazda 3, stopped at the scene and was not initially charged, but the investigation continues, Irvine police spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.
Actually most immigration attorneys want laws and enforcement regarding our borders.
There’s not much business when the laws are ignored.
As a defense attorney and former prosecutor I understand this very well.
Ya, but those in Irvine sure like their home, yard and business servants...
In the 1700s through 1800s it wasn't that unusual.
Guys who made it to 65 usually had many more years to go as they were the hardy ones.
One of my ancestors was 94 when he married his 6th wife.
She was 18, he had 2 kids were her. He died at 107.
When one of his friends asked about the age difference and health, etc., he said, "if she dies, she dies".
The money is where the clients are...And those guys doing a booming business....Those who are supporting enforcement, are losing way big.
Was it just an out of control car or was there someone operating it?
Huh!
I think he tows a team of horses around in a pickup truck for when the moment is right.
now if the female who hit the “immigration attorney” was an illegal alien, I would say that was karma...
My G grandfather had a big farm in PA back in the 1800's. His first wife died leaving him with 10 children, he remarried and had 12 more.
His trophy now holds ashes....
There’s not a single immigration lawyer where I live so honestly I don’t know how those lawyers make a living.
There has to be at least some enforcement for there to be any work to do.
I did talk to one such attorney recently because my client’s criminal case had the potential for deportation.
I asked him how they made any money, and he said he represents a lot of people who legally emigrate to the U.S from Europe, and some people from Asian or African countries seeking refugee status.
But not much from south of the border.
It’s a gaping hole and obviously a huge problem.
Maybe passing through?
An ancestor of mine who fought in the Revolutionary War had 21 children by 3 wives, and 18 of the children grew to adulthood. His youngest child was about 5 years old when he died aged 78.
Of course its possible. Old sperm and eggs usually produces odd children but if all is normal gramps can beget a baby til he dies.
“Legal immigration” attorneys should not be confused with those who pander after the illegal alien trade. There is a great demand for lawyers who can handle the process of legal immigration for those citizens of other countries who are emigrating lawfully to America and bringing with them skills and abilities needed here. That is the kind of immigration we do not want to hinder.
I was thinking more like Karma.
And now he has emigrated to that celestial place made by God....
Sure! Why not?
You're not related to John Tyler, are you?
Yeah, that’d be it ....
[ Of course its possible. Old sperm and eggs usually produces odd children but if all is normal gramps can beget a baby til he dies. ]
Sperm is constantly being produced while eggs are made inthe womb, so old men is not an issue, old women are...
