According to a survey by tech giant Cisco Systems, about a fourth of professionals ages 18 to 50 would leap at the chance to get a surgical brain implant that allowed them to instantly link their thoughts to the Internet.
The study was conducted on 3,700 adults working in white-collar jobs in 15 countries.

Isn’t ‘Mark of the Beast’ a Biblical term, or reference?
If it is Biblical, why is it constantly changing, and evolving?
“mark of the beast”
First thing that popped into my mind.
save me a spot !
Please note the "Collectivist Network Device."
This reminds me of the candy man in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Government acting as the creepy child predator enticing naïve children to get into the car.
Is the Mark of the Beast Chip Wi-Fi compatible and would how much a month would I have to pay AT&T?
how effin’ dumb is this?
We are heading towards a new have/have-not society. This one will be about augmentation. Very quickly, some jobs, perhaps a majority, will require some form of augmentation. Those who can afford it or get it will be employed and those who can’t, won’t. Also, there will be physical augmentation, bigger muscles, faster moves, a porn-class penis you can buy.
There will probably be outliers who get both sets of genitalia, or worse, have specially designed babies programmed to satisfy who-knows what fetish...perhaps in the name of “art.”
Brave new world is not how I’d class these events.
My sister, now 71, refuses to adapt to technology. She won’t use a bank machine or a self-checkout. I can see how she is losing her ability to get along in society. I can only picture how those who fail to move along with the augmentation wave will be viewed and how they’ll become second class citizens. What will my sister do when you can’t go into a bank and talk to a real person? What about when there are no more checkers?
“If it is Biblical, why is it constantly changing, and evolving?”
I might not understand what you’re asking, but it’s commonly believed that much of the meaning of blblical prophecy is obscured until it becomes relevant.
What would a reader several hundred years ago make of the concept of not being able to buy or sell unless one had a mark on one’s forehead or right hand? This makes a lot more sense today in light of current technology.
We need an alternative internet. How hard would it be? The concept is already invented, and from what I see, it’s not even based on mainframes anymore, just a bunch of PCs networked all over the world. Let’s get Limbaugh involved. He has money and brains and he can make it happen instead of wasting his time promoting iced tea.
Then all they have to do is implement programs to control them.
True Zombies.
“Chip implant to the brain” How long before they could read and or control your thoughts? or acess and or alter your memory? Isn’t there a push for government control of the internet?
Would they be subject to arrest if thought about something illegal?
Baaaaaaaaaa.
Baaaaaaaaaa.
Baaaaaaaaaa.
I thought the Bible was constant, unchanging.
Why is ‘The Mark of The Beast’ not constant, instead, constantly changing?
Could it be that those who call the latest fad ‘The Mark of The Beast’ don’t know what they are talking about?
I know a lot of overprotective parents like the idea of a tracking chip implanted in the arm in children in the event they are lost or kidnapped.
Seems to me if I was a kidnapper, the first thing I’d do to a kid I kidnapped is chop off his or her arm, right away.
Well, that’s pretty far in the future, so no-one answering knows what it would entail. If we use the current web client analogy, one wonders whether the connection would be one-way or two-way, and whether it could be turned off at the will of the implantee.
Voices in our heads?
“Give us channel 68, Max.” “Vote Democrat”
Who are the Brain Police??
Probably from the very start.
