Peña Nieto and other Central America Leaders hail Obama’s Immigration Actions

US President Barack Obama’s immigration plan, unveiled on Thursday November 20th, eases the threat of deportation for some 4.7 million immigrants, many of them Mexican, who are in the United States without legal documents.

“I want to publicly recognize the President of the United States for yesterday’s announcement,” Peña Nieto told a conference in Mexico. “These measures bring relief to principally Mexican immigrants.”

Peña Nieto said he had instructed Mexico’s consular service to help those Mexicans who wish to take advantage of the reform.

“This temporary relief is a great step in the right direction from the United States to resolve the migratory issues of 11 million people, and so we urge Congress to permanently resolve their status by approving a deep immigration reform,” the office of Honduran President Juan Hernandez said in a statement on Friday.

With 100,000 Guatemalans livening in the U.S., Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina urged his people not to fall for misinformation spread by people smugglers or “coyotes.”

El Salvador’s Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez also saw Obama’s immigration rule changes as a positive step but wants a more permanent solution for immigrant reform.

Obama puts the interests of Mexicans and Central Americans ahead of those of Americans.

Not the slightest bit of embarrassment that their countries are such crapholes that their people will risk life and limb to get out.

The commonly heard rhetoric is that we must “create a path to citizenship.” I don’t think that is true, but since that side of the argument is better at organizing media messages, we need to explain that there is also a need to create a “path to non-citizenship”, which creates a better defined permanent legal alien or temporary legal alien status (in other words, people who are permitted to reside here without any chance of every becoming voting citizens.) We also need to start a campaign of advertising that consists of billboards/webpages/television ads, which simply contain the work “sovereignty”, with no other text. I literally believe that the side promoting amnesty or the executive action that Obama just took does not understand the word or the concept.

Los Estados Unidos (aka El Norte) has been the insurance for the Central America aristocrats to keep the revolutions from happening. At the very least, these governments turn a blind eye towards the migration north and love the money that returns to families remaining for propping up their economies. It is instructive to see the reduction in armed insurrection over the past decades.

Any time a country gets the chance to dump their criminals, freeloaders and poverty on America, you have to expect them to become excited about it. Everybody shout, “OLE’!”
