December 1st, is World AIDS Day. In the 35-years of the epidemic, about 80-million people have become infected with HIV and nearly 40-million have died. But great progress has been made in recent years in preventing and treating the disease. UNAIDS – the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS – has set a goal of ending the epidemic by 2030. An advocacy group says a strategic plan and much funding are needed to achieve that goal.

It would have been stopped years ago if they had nailed it as a homo disease. Now it has gotten into the hetero population.
AIDS has become an industry now. And, like Global Warming, it needs more and more money to keep these doctors and activists employed. Its a great example of why the bureaucratic Welfare State is killing us. Once the administrative apparatus is established, it demands more and more money no matter how much threat is left of AIDS infecting people.

Why in the world would anyone care about ending Aids? Of all the awful diseases out there, to me it seems that this one shouldn’t even make the list...
The left is insane. The way to stop it is for individuals to stop doing things which lead to the spread of the disease.

AIDS is an affliction pretty much constrained to the gay and heavy drug using communities. And there is a big overlap between those groups. Are there any viral diseases that are constrained in this manner? The answer is no. And HIV is not the cause of AIDS. Curing AIDS by curing HIV is a huge business. Billions are being spent on this foolish but lucrative quest. And the results? All negative.
I repeat my prediction from the late 80’s: There will never be a cure for HIV that ends AIDS. AIDS is a result of the destruction of the immune system due to the behaviors of typical gays and drug users. Period.

In North America, HIV has had a steeper than normal decline in its mortality rate than is typical for pathogens, due to mostly natural selection, with drugs as a secondary reason.
In perhaps 10 years or so, AIDS will just be a chronic disease in North America, and soon after, our immune systems will be able to overcome the pathogen.
Africa is another matter. Not just HIV, but an enormous number of other venereal diseases and communicable diseases, and untreated other diseases will be keeping HIV lethal for the foreseeable future.
Exactly! Ending AIDs requires self-discipline. It requires a certain group to stop having anal sex with same sex partners. It requires a certain group to stop sharing needles when they are shooting up drugs.
