Giuliani on Ferguson Federal Civil Rights Case: ‘It’s the Same Testimony’
National Review ^ | 12/01/2014 | Tim Cavanaugh

Posted on 12/01/2014 6:46:47 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani Sunday poopoohed the idea of a federal civil rights investigation of former Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson, noting that Attorney General Eric Holder would merely be reviewing evidence that has already been rejected by a Ferguson grand jury.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Giuliani made a funny YEEKS face before noting that “had it not had the racial overtones and the national publicity,” the case against Wilson — who shot and killed the unarmed Michael Brown during an altercation in August — would not even have been brought to a grand jury. He addded that one witness claimed Brown had “aggressively” charged Wilson just prior to the fatal shooting.

“It’s the same testimony,” Giuliani said of the evidence that would be reviewed in a federal case. “It’s the same witnesses, the same testimony. In other words, Attorney General Holder is going to have to take a case in which a jury couldn’t find probable cause to indict, and he’s going to have to find probable cause in front of the federal grand jury when there are seven African-American witnesses supporting the officer’s testimony, and the witnesses on the other side — not all of them but almost all of them — have impeachable testimony. In fact, a couple of them committed perjury, saying he was shot in the back when he clearly wasn’t. It’s an impossible case to present to a grand jury. A federal grand jury — in my experience, having been in front of hundreds of them — would find no true bill here, just like this grand jury.”

There’s no there there.

Except to liberals upset the justice system didn’t railroad an innocent onto death row.

But they want the Feds to second-guess St. Louis Grand Jurors.

Never mind the evidence overwhelmingly favored Darren Wilson’s innocence.

In spite of that he was forced out of his job. And some people still won’t take “no” for an answer.

Rudy Guiliani is right - the evidence is incontrovertible save to those who refuse to look at it.

While Guiliani’s statement was welcome as he addressed the problem as a former prosecutor would. Crediting Holder as legitimately viewing prosecution when in his heart Rudy truly knows Holder wants a show trial. And should have said so.

Correct. Some of these people need to be prosecuted for perjury; even those liars who said he was surrendering with his hands up. The Holder DoJ is infamous for cases with perjury. Happens all the time in their DC court.

I wonder if Rudy is familiar with the saying "snitches get stitches" and what the attitude behind that phrase might mean to a jury made up substantially of blacks and other minorities.

Intimidation by Holder should be a major issue. He’s on his way out but will do as much damage as he can before packing his tutu and loin cloths for retirement in a primitive African village where he will be in his natural habitat.

I understand and appreciate what Giuliani is doing here, but he knows he's wrong on this point. Holder is more than capable of cherry-picking the right stuff (and leaving out the rest) from the evidence to convince a grand jury to indict.

And that's Holder's main objective right now - a federal indictment stirs the pot again, both keeping the issue alive in the first place as well as the subtext of why the local grand jury didn't indict.

Then, on the inevitable acquittal, a third round of pot stirring occurs because the "murderer" someone managed to "walk" because of some nefarious "white privilege".

The script has already been written, it's just a matter of watching it all play out, now.
