THE Islamic State has visibly attracted young Muslims from all over the world to its violent movement to build a caliphate in Iraq and Syria. But here’s what’s less visible — the online backlash against the Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, by young Muslims declaring their opposition to rule by Islamic law, or Shariah, and even proudly avowing their atheism. Nadia Oweidat, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation, who tracks how Arab youths use the Internet, says the phenomenon “is mushrooming — the brutality of the Islamic State is exacerbating the issue and even pushing some young Muslims away from Islam.”
On Nov. 24, BBC.com published a piece on what was trending on Twitter. It began: “A growing social media conversation in Arabic is calling for the implementation of Shariah, or Islamic law, to be abandoned. Discussing religious law is a sensitive topic in many Muslim countries. But on Twitter, a hashtag which translates as ‘why we reject implementing Shariah’ has been used 5,000 times in 24 hours. The conversation is mainly taking place in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The debate is about whether religious law is suitable for the needs of Arab countries and modern legal systems. Dr. Alyaa Gad, an Egyptian doctor living in Switzerland, started the hashtag. ‘I have nothing against religion,’ she tells BBC Trending, but says she is against ‘using it as a political system.’ ”
The BBC added that “many others joined in the conversation, listing reasons why Arabs and Muslims should abandon Shariah. ‘Because there’s not a single positive example of it bringing justice and equality,’ one man tweeted. ... A Saudi woman commented: ‘By adhering to Shariah we are adhering to inhumane laws. Saudi Arabia is saturated with the blood of those executed by Sharia.’ ”

There is actually a lot of evidence (http://www.charismamag.com/spirit/evangelism-missions/14442-when-musiims-see-jesus) that Muslims are seeing the evil inherent in Islam and leaving it for Christianity, not atheism.
Dang, I was encouraged by this headline - and then saw that it is Tom Friedman.
People all over the world should reject Sharia law outright as it is nothing but a system of oppression for everyone affected.

Thomas Friedman has not gotten anything right in over 10 years. He is the NY Time’s editorial equivalent of Dick Morris.

Yes, dedicated nwo writer Tom is just reporting on the nwo operation.
ISIS/IL, being a nwo creation, has as one of its purposes promotion of new world order’s version of islam.
Well, and there’s that other thing, convincing young muslims and converts to go join the terror group.
If nwo can get a lot of muslims to embrace new world order secular humanism, just with a muslim “cultural twist”, but no rules as to what’s permissible and what’s not, they’ve got their muslim-American segment of American society poised for growth and helping to transform America into a “multi-cultural”, hedonistic new world order society.
Of course, nwo uses its terror groups extensively in promoting societal change and overthrowing governments.
NWO has been using islam for quite some time as an antithesis in a little Hegelian matchup against their portrayal of Western culture / Christianity, which they project as being reactionary, out-of-date, unjust/unfair, etc. The resultant synthesis they hope for, of course, is their own version of Western culture imposed on the world, e.g., nwo-corrupted Churches, nwo-corrupted business, nwo-corrupted government, etc., all under nwo supranational governance.
The nwo societal “plan” for America is aimed at stomping out the remnant of true Christianity, replacing it completely with corrupt CIA/establishment-controlled Church organizations. Thus any group that can be molded into something that attacks true Christian faith they find useful in their agenda. Without true Christian faith, fallen men invariably will jump in lock-step with nwo globalism, either through desire for personal gain, fear or simple naivete.
Maybe not. A problem with Islam is that you cannot just “quit” and be an atheist, because they do not recognize that resignation in any way. This means that instead, Muslims convert to Christianity, which while other Muslims don’t like or respect it, it *is* recognized as a different religion. “He is not a Muslim, he is a Christian”, is all the difference in the world to an ex-Muslim.
This is happening on a grand scale in Africa, where hundreds of thousands of black Africans are quitting Islam and becoming either Catholics, Anglicans, or Evangelicals. This hemorrhaging in Islam has been noted with alarm in Riyadh, where the status of the ummah is tracked.
Blacks are seen as nothing more than inferior slaves in Islam, but Christianity not only recognizes them as people, but treat them just the same as other Christians.

There are all sorts of links out there. I picked one that had originally been a report in al-Jazeera, which they have since pulled.
But the hemorrhaging is enormous. Lots of news about it.
Let’s use teenage drinking as an analogy for religion.
*Your average semi-secular guy is drinking a wide variety of low-alcohol beers or wines. There are endless debates which is best.
*More hardcore guys are hitting whisky, brandy, etc. with gusto. The Average semi-secular guy is getting bit worried and uncomfortable how these guys slur their words and entertain crazy ideas. These guys know what they want and won’t settle for anything else.
*ISIS, in comparison, is the guy guzzling down undiluted Bacardi 151 without ice and insisting that you do the same. No wonder that even ...less enthusiastic rum drinkers (some heretics even dilute the stuff with Coke!) are trying to politely decline and avoid the guy. Some are even trying to swear off the booze entirely...
If there is anything the Left hates, it is Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Christians must never win. That’s why we hear nothing about it.
There is some really amazing stuff going on in Africa.
One of the biggest “winners” is the (quite conservative) African Anglican church. Because of the radicalism of the Episcopalian (US Anglican) church, many conservative congregations chose to leave the Episcopal church and become African Missionary churches.
Still Anglican, their leaders are now African Bishops and Archbishops. And a huge amount of money from these American churches began to flow to Africa, right when they were being overwhelmed with converts to Christianity and needed to build hundreds of churches.
And conversions to Catholicism and Evangelism are also almost overwhelming. Evangelical churches in the US are pouring money into Africa at an unprecedented pace, to provide for all the converts.
This is on the plus side. There is also a lot of destruction going on. The Muslims are fighting back, to stop the hemorrhage, with vicious organizations like Boko Haram, that seeks to destroy everything Christian or western in their path.
All told, Africa is a very busy place right now.
