After years as a successful wedding photographer, Hillary Maybery decided to challenge herself to something new and tackle the fashion industry, but while searching for a teen model, her journey took an unexpected turn that eventually chipped away at her preconceived notions about hunters, which she once viewed as barbaric, blood thirsty, gun lovers.
Maybery was intrigued when she came across photos of 15-year-old Harlee and her father, Bryan, standing over a massive 12-point elk, Harlees first, which she had dropped from about 350 yards away with a clean shot to the shoulder.

Hmm, riding a horse while backpacking antlers without some hunter orange seems a tad risky to me. But I’m glad that the photo op did adjust the photographers opinions.
um... I love the picture, but.. they better hope their arn’t any trigger happy hunters nearby that see that rack and shoot first and ask questions later!
Nice story. What is it about elk and blonds?

Now that's gun control.
Way to go dad.
I like the B&W ... reminds me of how much I love true, chemical process silver-on-paper black & White photography. I miss having a darkroom.
What little darkroom black and white I did when I took a photographer class back in the mid 90s was fun and I learned a great deal. The guy who taught it was really sharp.
It was part of the television production program.
You owe me a new monitor, I’ll never get the Coke off of it now.
There were some hippyfags and their butch girlfriends protesting our advertised pork festival.
Some guys in our church go on our annual hog hunt on my land and pluck some of them nasty destructive porkers. (I hate them suckers but they sure are tasty)
We kill them, we clean them, we cook them. About 50% of the meat goes to food bank, the rest is a big event where ANYONE in the community can have a free BBQ meal, sponsored by our church.
The hippyfags were protesting us killing the hogs. Hogs that destroy land, kill livestock, eat crops. We were giving the meat to the food bank. We were feeding anyone in the community for free that night.
These were 20something hipsters that had nothing better to do.
Surely nothing less than .06.
How can you tell there is no orange in a black and white photo?
But I'm sure the normal people in your community appreciate your BBQ.
Not bad, but she needs to put down a few more double cheeseburgers, cuz she looks like she might pass out at any minute.
.300 win mag would have been nice. Probably not a Barrett though. :>}
And I love the picture of her and her dad looking at each other. That's love. Very sweet.
