Police stormed a cafe in central Sydney early Tuesday where a gunman held more than a dozen hostages for more than 16 hours, firing automatic weapons and throwing grenades moments after captives were seen fleeing the buidling in terror.
A scene of pandemonium erupted in the early morning just minutes after hostages started emerging from the cafe on their own or in small groups.
Eleven hostages were reportedly accounted for after the police raid - Nine News reported. Sky News reported four people were injured. Live TV footage showed at least two people being taken away on stretchers but there was no confirmation of details.
One hostage was seen being carried out of the building. The woman seemed quite distressed and in a lot of pain as blood gushing from her legs.
After the raid, a bomb disposal robot was seen entering the cafe.
The dramatic end stage of the siege came as the gunman holding the remaining captives was revealed as a self-proclaimed Islamic cleric Man Haron Monis.
Monis is a 49-year-old man living in southwest Sydney, but is originally from Iran and a self-proclaimed sheik, and also sent hate mail to the families of Australian dead soldiers between 2007 and 2009, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Interesting that when a Muslim attacks and kills nonbelievers the anti-hate parade rushes to stand with Muslims while after a cop has a perp die during a legit arrest the same exact folks go nuts saying that cops are out of control and white racists need to be put in check.

When 0.2% of your religion believes something you have nutjobs misinterpreting it.
When 2.0% of your religion believes something you have a small feing sect that believes an uncommon view of the sacred texts.

Because the Aussies don't want to be seen as insensitive to a typical, everyday moslem.
Why does the West even allow these bearded barbarians into their society?

Don’t Feign Outrage Over Torture Report

The world will feign outrage over the “revelations” cited in the newly released Senate Intelligence Committee’s torture report.
Around dinner tables and coffee shops in the Middle East, North Africa and Southwest Asia, people are probably chuckling over the hype surrounding U.S. interrogation techniques such as sleep deprivation, loud music, and yes, waterboarding. And what do their own governments use? Most likely beatings, mutilations and executions.
The report findings may result in protests, but the most damaging consequence may be that it would set back our intelligence services in fighting terrorism.
Those captured on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan were surprised when the treatment they received by their U.S. captors was nothing like what they were told by their leaders. They were told they would be brutally tortured and killed regardless of whether they shared information. But they quickly learned that wasn’t the case.
