No, but we have lived in military populated areas. We lived in Michigan in a small town that did not have a military base near by. Our neighbor behind our house was black and from Mississippi. I was in my 20s at the time, and he and I were like instant family. We have returned to the Deep South, and I have found race relationships where we live to be much better than when I left. That is not to say there aren’t issues with some people or with some areas, but our children’s sports teams are made up of a mix of races. BUT the black parents are mostly professionals who have been in the military or who played sports in colleges. A huge change I have seen in this area is that private schools actually have black students. We sent our second son to a private school last year, and there were a handful of black students. They went there by choice. The school also had some black faculty. I know that other private schools around here also have black students. They are often gifted athletes who are given scholarships to attend the schools. In the case of our school, some of these students are the children of or siblings of professional athletes who can afford the tuition.

Black families attend the same church we attend. I don’t think anyone forces them.

You're living the way the world should work. My only objection would be ‘scholarships for athletics for black kids’. I'm a firm believe in vouchers so children of all races can attend the best schools they qualify for.. . Black kids should be encouraged to compete on many levels, not just sports... Thanks for sharing petitfour... you've brightened my day.
