This Is What Our Hellish World Will Look Like After We Hit the Global Warming Tipping Point
The de facto assumption of climate change policy is that the world must limit the increase in global temperatures to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) above pre-Industrial levels, or risk hitting a tipping point where the impact becomes irreversible. The figure dates back to 1975, when economist William Nordhaus suggested that more than 3.6 degrees of warming would take the climate outside of the range of observations which have been made over the last several hundred thousand years. By the 1990s, 3.6 degrees gained traction in the scientific community and then in politics, when the European Council argued in 1996 that 3.6 degrees should be the United Nations red line for global warming. It wasnt until four years ago, at a climate conference in Cancun, Mexico, that countries finally committed to hold the increase in global average temperatures below 3.6 degrees.
Despite being almost 40 years old, this temperature threshold remains controversialand for good reason. One: It's rather arbitrary. Two: It's unrealistic. To stay within 3.6 degrees, global carbon pollution would have to begin coming down in the next decade, according to the United Nations Environmental Program Emissions Gap Report. The world would have to reach zero net greenhouse gas emissions before the end of the century.

I like Science Fiction, but when the author dips into global warming, I toss the book and cross that author off my list.
Would I rather fight these nut jobs or mother nature?
Let me think...
Clicked on the link to see whether is was about (a) anarchy in the streets or (b)global warming. As it’s (b), never mind.
Is this the same tipping point for the island of Guam whereby if too many people go there it will tip over and sink? Isn’t that something a liberal congress critter once said recently?
I live at 3,100 feet, if we are “drowning” here, then most of the eastern half of the country is underwater. Watermelons just growing bigger.
Hell on Earth is not a warm place, it’s a cold place. We’re on the precipice of what looks more and more to be at least a Dalton-magnitude minimum, which was a disaster for crops worldwide. If it gets to Maunder-magnitude, a lot of people are going to die.
And if you really want to go out on a limb, there’s always the chance that this is the actual end of the current interglacial, and we’re headed for another hundred thousand years or so of mile-thick ice sheets extending down past the BosWash megalopolis.
Warm and wet is always a boon to humanity, not a disaster. Cold and dry, on the other hand, are the kinds of things famine is built from.
Hank Johnson, DEMOCRAT Georgia.....a certified idiot.
Thanks for the great heads up... I have taken all my money out of the market and am only investing in sump pump manufacturers... Expect to make a KILLING!
This is what our 'hellish world' will look like..................
Most pandemics began with a severe drop in temperatatures. Less food grown, meant more hungry people susceptible to disease, plus staying inside they all caught the same illnesses.
Man, great place for a clam shack, video arcade, a strip mall in the back, ...
“Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!”
I’m glad I’m a good swimmer.
These eco-nutjobs should be involuntarily committed for their ongoing logic-insanity. Their distortion of logic and fact is criminal. These eco-loons should be shunned and ridiculed wherever possible (which is always). Have a Merry Christmas!
Technology is wonderful. Hollyweird special effects have become the new food for the 25% of the population that has serious mental handicap/issues. Reality? What's that? Real science? what's that?
Yes, 75% of the population is totally ignorant of science and economics. But having something to panic about, in between TV fantasies is a good way to grasp reality.
All of which doesn't bother me at all, until they shove their delusional fantasies in my face.
As if Obamadork and his flying monkeys weren't enough to worry about.
Oh, now I get it. With this so-called global warming, the coastal city will be swamped. Since most of these are Liberal bastions of hyperventilating hypocrites of hysteria, the Democrat base will be washed away.
Seriously?
Perhaps sliding back into the stone age would be good shock therapy. Having to deal with mere survival has a sobering effect on the neurotically driven.
Ending the financing of the "grant" driven so called scientists, who produce nothing useful, but lots of fear to feed the ignorant would also be a good move.
