What would Londoners who went to the theater while V2 rockets were falling on England to show the Nazis that they could not be cowed think of this affair?

If they have a late showing after the kids go to bed, I might have to sneak out to the Drafthouse on Christmas Day. The South Austin location is two miles from my house.

“This may turn out to be the most imaginative PR campaign ever to gin up interest in at best a mediocre movie.”
Actually, I think it may turn out to be much more than that! Let’s consider all the fallout.
A couple of under-performing executives made unflattering remarks about certain overpaid, underachieving actors and directors. The commented personnel get angry and leave (a win for Sony), Sony ‘does the right thing’ and gets rid of the people that made the remarks in the first place (another win for Sony).
Looks like Sony takes a crappy movie, makes it into a hit, and unloads a lot of overpriced deadwood. Not a bad days work.

This may turn out to be the most imaginative PR campaign ever to gin up interest in at best a mediocre movie. If that's what happened, they didn't do it to promote the movie, they did it to promote Crackle.

True enough... and that in and of itself made them grow a pair, evidently.

Thinking that you’d best get tickets now, they are already showing up on eBay.

"And probably realized that this movie, which would otherwise be a flop, now stands to bring them some much needed cash."Yep. This controversy was probably worth $30 million in advertising.

It’s a longshot I can even find time. I’ll let the people without kids go to the Christmas Day showings; it will no doubt be sold out. That movie will receive my money though.
To: billorites
Were it not for Sony's cowardice in pulling it from theaters I probably would have seen this movie.
Now I wouldn't watch it if they paid me to.

You sound as clueless about this as Obama. How is it Sony's fault that the 3 largest theater chains refused to show it?
You didn't pay attention to the chain of events. Sony had little to do with cancelling the Christmas Day release, and were essentially forced into it by the major theaters cancelling showings.
To: MeshugeMikey
I suspect this movie is a dud.
I didn’t find the previews compelling at all.
