New Years Day will usher in hundreds of new laws in California, including a landmark law that allows undocumented individuals to receive a drivers license.
In all, California will add 930 new laws, most of which will go into effect Thursday. Some of the most talked-about laws wont take effect until July, such as a statewide ban on plastic bags, required sick leave for employees and a requirement that new smartphones come with antitheft technology.

Obama’s not jealous of a paltry 900 new laws. He accomplished more though with thousands and thousands of new regulations each having the effect of a law. 900 is like chump change.

IIRC it was the liberals screaming about the environment, the landfills, all the trees being cut down to make paper bags that initially caused the stir that eventually became the question at the supermarket, or rather some supermarkets such as the one we go to “paper, or plastic?”
We always asked for paper as it was truly recyclable, and provided more support to the carriage of our groceries in the back of the car. Some of the looks from the younger “heads full of mush” generation as we demanded paper were priceless.
Today the liberals are legislating out the same plastic bags they promoted in effort to save the planet so many years ago in order to save the planet.
Typical libs, and unintended consequences.

I would make it a law that every adult in California has to read every new law and then take a test on them. Everybody who passes has to move to Oxnard.

Everyone’s a criminal....Except those that are illegally here.

How death certificates are filled out for transgender people also will be updated. Under a new law, coroners will be required to list the gender consistent with how the person lived, instead of solely relying on the persons anatomy
What will Obama’s say?

So when July 1, 2015 comes around, I will be an outlaw and a criminal in the State of California if I refuse to buy the “State Authorized Grocery Bags” that no doubt will be produced by a close friend of the Democrat Party who helped sponsor the bill for monetary gain. Is it time to burn our bags in front of the state capitol?

One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
And that my friends is the end game here

I get those looks asking for plastic bags. I have stairs so it's easier.
One lady at a parts outlet made a comment about the planet when I asked
for the plastic. I made a comment about the 26year decay of human bodies
in the earth and what she wanted to do about making it illegal to die.
I never saw her again after that day. Fired or transferred, no idea. Loons.

Ayn Rand Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with. ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
