Steve Scalise spoke to white nationalists in 2002. His days as GOP whip could be numbered.

True, but I believe Scalise when he says that they didn’t tell him this was a David Duke front group that invited him. Duke and his ilk were making all kinds of innocuous sounding fronts like that at one point, trying to “mainstream” themselves.

Its certainly no worse than running around with La Raza or the Black Pampers.

So the Washington Post assigns a reporter cover a story about the new Republican Whip, then has a columnist write an article on the initial story the same day it's released?

Sounds as if someone is trying to create a narrative.

I've read two pieces about this and neither one gives any details. What was the event? Was he invited to speak or did he just shake some hands? Who invited him? If he spoke, what did he say?

Maybe somebody will accidentally commit journalism and answer some questions.

Ban Al Sharpton from the White House.

His 82 visits and counting and being seated in the Center of the table, next to the Vice President of the United States is a problem.

Dems and WAPO have no credibility on the issue.

Even politicians can get fooled into situations that are not what they seem. But nobody is asking if Scalise learned a lesson, they just want to filth him for it.

And what happened afterwards... doubtless he took measures to be sure he did not get suckered into indulging dicey groups again.

On the contrary, this will be a blip. It's simply a last desperate effort to shoot at the GOP before they take their seats in January.

The MSM is so transparent to me now.

David Duke at times had one very skillful ability, to promote his agenda through reasonableness. He had the tact to phrase things so that they did not have the offensive bite as others used. For example, his “white nationalist” organizations eight major ideas are the following, a blend of things just a *bit* more than many people would accept:

1) Equal rights for White Americans, particularly through an end to affirmative action. (A popular stance)

2) An end to desegregation busing, which they blame for declining educational standards, increased racial tension, and the wasting of public money. (Mostly gone already)

3) Welfare reform that would see welfare recipients made to work for their money, and the encouragement of family planning. (Workfare and Planned Parenthood)

4) Tougher sentencing for violent crime, alongside the repealing of hate crime legislation. (Popular issues)

5) Very strict limitations on immigration. (Again popular)

6) An end to media portrayal of whites as oppressors. (Not a big issue to most people. Such movies usually are money losers.)

7) The preservation of white heritage. (Nebulous, but a little inflammatory.)

8) A demand for excellence in all things. (Makes no sense)

Okay, now examine the expression “white nationalist”.

Socialists are internationalists, who loathe the very idea of nations, heterogeneous peoples, unique cultures and histories, and patriotism. So a “nationalist” to them is an invective as easily made at a National socialist as it is at a patriotic conservative. And a “white nationalist” is doubly damned in their eyes, as white implies a heterogeneous ethnic type.

Bottom line: look who is cursing at Steve Scalise for speaking to this group. Their hands are far from clean as well.

If instead he had spoken to communist black nationalists that would have been a resume enhancement.

Funny thing, but I seem to remember seeing photos of a certain POSOTUS hanging with a certain Nation of Islam cretin. But, I guess that's OK because it's a black thing.

ValJar is working overtime, it would seem.

You can speak to groups formed to advocate for black skin color but not groups formed to advocate for white skin color.

“The fact that David Duke is a Code Pink supporting Cindy Sheehan scumbag should be enough.”

Hmm, Nazism was enough to make me not trust David Duke — but then again I don’t trust “either” of your parties so maybe I am just a cynic

Misplaced glee - the only real losers are those who want to keep the far left at bay.

Duke was a long time democrat who didn’t get squat for Republican votes and even the guy he beat in the primary endorsed Dukes opponent.

“Duke is a Republican” is a liberal lie

He got WAY more votes when he ran as a Democrat.

About 5 times more in fact.
