Ukip leader Nigel Farage named Briton of the Year after 'stellar' 2014

NIGEL Farage has been named Briton of the Year by The Times today after a "stellar" year for him and the UK Independence Party (Ukip).

The 50-year-old was described as "game-changing" politician and was honoured for "bulldozing" his party into the political mainstream during 2014.

This year Ukip emerged victorious in the European elections and secured their first two MPs after victories in two separate by-elections.

The Times wrote: "Mr Farage set the political agenda for 2014 and will play a prominent role in the election to come.

"For these accomplishments and more, he has earned his perennial place in the headlines and is named today as The Times Briton of the Year."

Mr Farage took to Twitter to say he was "grateful" for the accolade.

He posted: "Despite all, The Times has named me Briton of the year. Attacks aside, I am grateful. Thank you."

I read in some place recently that UKIP is essentially more socialism/marxism, just less than the other parties. Is this true?

They are quite a change from the other parties.

Here is an article from the telegraph earlier this year:

Legalise handguns and repatriate migrants: Ukip’s 7 most controversial policies

The long answer depends on what you mean by socialism.

I mean, are they Ayn Randian? No.

Neither is Ted Cruz I assume. My take on it is that they at least want to revert the neo cultural marxism that has taken over the United Kingdom and most of Europe since the 60’s.

It is a good start.

Cannot claim to be an expert, but I would say not.

UKP’s main thing is that Europe has in many respects surrendered all the sovereignty of its individual nations and has decided to be ruled by an unelected panel of goofballs sitting in Brussels. It is this that Mr. Farage detests.

Mr. Farage whom I respect greatly is a great admirer of the US and our Constitutional system and seems like a wonderfully friendly chap in the interviews I have heard him do. There are good numbers of YouTubes on him where he literally tears the Brussels crowd multiple bodily orifices and he is wonderfully brutal about doing so.

So I would seriously doubt he is any kind of socialist and certainly no Marxist.

I know. That is what 16-17 years of brainwashing will do to you.

The socialist knew this and captured not only early education, but also out higher learning institutions.

I do have hope though, and empirical evidence seems to bear me out, that people soon wisen up.

But, when the enemies of freedom “own our kids” for the first 20-25 years of their lives we are in trouble.

Yet, we have the truth on our side.

Otherwise we would have been utterly decimated already.

Cheers,

Heim

Does UKIP have enough appeal amongst UK voters to win a good number of seats in Parliament?

I think so.

They are appealing both to old school conservatives and to the “lower” classes.

This cross political appeal, not unlike Reagan, can go far.

Though due to the British electoral system their best hope - imho - is to become the balance of power in the parliamentary system.

Though as we have seen in Sweden now, that might end up with the labour and the conservatives joining forces to shut UKIP out.

We live in interesting times.
