RFK, Jr.: We have so much to learn from Cuba (Ike's fault!)

The embargo impedes economic development by making virtually every commodity and every species of equipment both astronomically expensive and difficult to obtain.

Since the U.S. is, I believe, the only country maintaining the embargo then apparently the U.S. is the sole source for the commodities and equipment Cuba needs.

JFK doomed the Bay of Pigs invasion by withdrawing air support as the men were landing on the beach. Cuba’s chance at freedom was lost because of JFK!

Good point; they’ve traded with everyone else, and are still dirt-poor.

I do like his point about some of the other evil people we deal with; our trade with Red China ruined our economy.

All aspiring dictators please note: do not justify your actions by pointing out that you made the trains run on time. Just grant health care, housing, and teach people to read and your tyranny will be fully justified. [/sarcasm]

President Kennedy told Castro, through intermediaries, that the United States would end the embargo when Cuba stopped exporting violent revolutionists to Latin America’s Alliance for Progress nations – a policy that mainly ended with Che Guevara’s death in 1967 and when Castro stopped allowing the Soviets to use the island as a base for the expansion of Soviet power in the hemisphere.

He does say "many" when writing this misleading sentence. Africa and Venezuela would be a lot happier if the whole sentence was true. Chavez bought his exported thuggery to help him get and enforce power and paid with oil. As oil is now falling, RFK Jr and Obama have now come to Raul's rescue.

Sickening the media won't explain it is simple terms to the general public fired up on playoffs and Kim K.

The piece gets worse the further you read along. He winds up rattling off a list of U.S. sins, naturally including torture. He seems to be going for more than just moral equivalence and is actually painting us as worse than Cuba. Pretty disgusting. If JFK were here he’d probably chew him out.

Why does my passport say that I can’t visit Cuba? Why can’t I go where I want to go? . . . I have been a fortunate American. I have been able to visit Cuba . . .

I guess you have been able to go to Cuba, dummy. And if you like it so much, why don't you stay?

“The embargo has also given Cuban leaders a plausible monster on which to blame Cuba’s poverty by lending credence to their argument that the United States, not Marxism, has caused the island’s economic distress.”

Bull. Communism has caused cubas economic distress. No other country has an economic embargo against cuba. What it cant get from the united states, it can get from any other country in the world.

Imagine a U.S. president faced, as Castro was, with over 400 assassination attempts...

Cuba used to have a prosperous economy. Now they are all in poverty; but hey; they are at least equal.

That is the Democrats dream for our nation.

“Now they are all in poverty”

Only 99.8% are in poverty.
