Well done, Laz, well done indeed.

How degraded our political class has become stands out in stark relief when compared to this brave and principled man, Caesar Rodney

"No portrait of Caesar Rodney exists. We know that he was tormented throughout his life by asthma, and that his adult years were plagued by a facial cancer. He experienced expensive, painful and futile medical treatments on the cancer.

The apex of Caesar Rodney's service to his state occurred in the spring of 1776... He, along with Thomas McKean and George Read, were the three Delaware delegates to the Continental Congress. The explosive issue of actual independence was the question of the hour.

The discussion of the Resolution occupied several contentious weeks. Unanimous agreement eluded its supporters, and a recess was declared. On June 15, 1776 the Delaware Assembly released their three divided delegates to vote their individual judgment in Philadelphia. The Congress reconvened on July 1, 1776.

However Caesar Rodney was in Delaware dealing with militia creation and Tory problems. The Delaware vote on independence was deadlocked with McKean 'for' and Read 'against'. A dramatic story began to unfold. McKean sent a courier to Caesar Rodney advising him of the deadlock and Caesar Rodney immediately left for Philadelphia, either on horseback...or by carriage. Riding all night in a torrential rainstorm, he arrived at Independence Hall on July 2, 1776 muddy, wet and fatigued but 'booted and spurred', and also seriously ill.The eighty mile trip had consumed eighteen hours, and much of his vitality. He was strong enough to break the Delaware tie and vote for independence, adding Delaware to the successful vote that day, and the eventual unanimous vote later in July.

Rodney was elected President of Delaware in 1778 for a three year term, and served an additional seven months.The ratification of the articles of Confederation consumed him for over a year marked by real contention within the Delaware Assembly. As peace approached, Rodney's frail constitution was played out. He was again appointed to the Continental Congress and the Delaware Assembly, but never served. He had reached the end of his strength and had probably bankrupted himself in service to the state. It is the ultimate irony that Caesar Rodney was to die less than one year from the signing on september 3, 1783, of the Treaty of Paris, ending the Revolution war".

And today's Lilliputians sell their souls for a committee assignment and thirty pieces of silver.

Caesar Rodney, signer of the Declaration of Independence

Small-minded and petty personal concerns bested the 'principles' of approximately 90% of the Republican membership.

From which a reasonable man may conclude that approximately 90% of the Republican members have no principles, and are in fact small-minded and petty politicians. Statesmen they are not.

You stated our condition well. We either fight back through the states, or give up, which is not an option.

Just two observations:

1. The turncoats, who backed out, didn’t do so to protect committee assignments alone. No, their reelection is even more valuable than that.

Boner only had to threaten their would be no help and maybe outright opposition from RNCC, Rove, et al.

That means:

No money or money working against you.

No advisors and putting you on an island with no support, logistics and deep ties in local races that would be instrumental in their continued seat.

Putting up candidates to directly weaken you next time around.

2nd
Ahhh, I forgot what my second point was.

Damnit.

Great observation Laz.

.

Free Republic colleagues ... here's a proposal for a "Free Republic Action Task Force"

All it requires is (first and foremeost) Jim Robinson's "seal of approval" ...

and twenty (20) dedicated, intelligent, mature Patriots ...

NO MONEY IS REQUIRED .... isn't that wonderful ?

==============================================

It was observed today at Free Republic ...

They don't see how little money it takes to organize and activate a small group. And the idea is to start a "movement", which also does not take a lot of money. And there are a lot of disgruntled people who have some money to donate/spend who might love to be a backer of a movement.
==============================================

The 2015-01-03 rallies cost a total of "zero" dollars to set-up and organize and promote (with the exception of internet provider service and the monthly electric bill)

In less than FOUR weeks ... over 150 Facebook Conservative groups were invited, 2,000+ e-mails were sent out around America ... the organizer (a Facebook "newbie") attracted over 3,250 "new" Facebook "Friends" in less than three (3) weeks.

==============================================

Not being "snarky" here, just illustrative ... however, "naysayers" are invited to leave the DAMNED discussion at this point ...

Just go somewhere else if all you want to do is "bitch" ...

==============================================

Just imagine what could have accomplished if a "team" of fifteen (15) individuals worked together for eight (8) weeks (instead of the five weeks before the 2015-01-03 rallies) ?

That is "clearly" the approach for the next "event".

And ... if Free Republic were the "key" organizer ...

what if each of the ten (10) Free Republic coordinators were in touch with "five" Free Republic state chapters each ...

coordinating locations, logistics, etc ...

and items such as "follow-on" tasks (calling congress, etc) were clearly explained to everyone ...

with the necessary "information infrastructure internet links" set-up at Free Republic.

The necessary event "Operational Security" would be assisted if the ten (10) Free Republic coordinators had a special access code for the "Event Public Planning" links.

Free Republic "Coordinators Number Eleven and Twelve" would focus on "radio" contacts (Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Levin, savage, Josh Bernstein, etc) and "news" contacts (including Fox, Drudge, Blaze, RedState, WND, etc) ... respectively ...

Free Republic "Coordinator Numbers 13 and 14" would focus on inviting "high profile" guests to the "rally events" across the nation, including local conservative talk show hosts, congressmen, etc. ... east and west of the Mississippi ...

Free Republic "Coordinator 15" would liason with Freedom Works, Heritage Foundation, Ted Cruz, Jeff Sessions, Louis Gohmert etc.

Weekly status meetings could easily be done with "Go-To-Meeting"

Now ... how's that for a "back of the napkin engineering sketch" ?

All Free Republic needs to do this is 15-20 "trusted" and "vetted" persons ... and Jim Robinson's approval ...
