DOVER Health centers across New Hampshire could lose state money for family planning and other services they currently provide under a bill proposed by state Rep. Warren Groen, R-Rochester.
In an interview Wednesday, Groen said his bill would bar organizations that perform abortions, refer patients for that procedure or advocate for abortions from receiving any taxpayer money.
The state law already prohibits public funding for abortions except in cases of incept, rape and when the mothers life is in danger. But Groens bill would prevent facilities from receiving money for any health care services.
Its not aimed specifically at Planned Parenthood, but if you are going to shoot at gorillas, youre probably going to hit the 800-pound one, he said.
The bill would likely affect the Joan G. Lovering Health Center in Greenland, the Concord Feminist Health Center and the five Planned Parenthood clinics, including the facility in Exeter. Those clinics receive state money for a broad array of health services, including medical screenings, STD treatment and family planning.
Jennifer Frizzell, a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, said the bill would limit access to health care for thousands of people, including men treated at its clinics.
While Representative Groen has made clear that his intention is to defund Planned Parenthood, the true impact of this bill will be felt by the nearly 16,000 patients each year who rely on our preventive health care services like cancer screenings, breast exams and access to birth control, she said in a statement.

Some good news for a change!
I love the way liberals butcher language to whitewash their sins. Health centers?? No, theyre death centers and the vast majority using them are doing so as a convenience. That is, so they won’t be inconvenienced by their unborn child. Its a money making proposition and big money at that. Then they whine about being underfunded.
That term is code for "abortion." I defy anyone to go to "planned parenthood" and tell them "I am planning on a child and want help planning it." They will have no idea what you mean (Dr. Laura one time did exactly that and reported on it when she had her radio show).
Hope the bill passes. It won’t defund Planned Parenthood or its 80+ affiliates, though.
The only cancer screening you might get at planned parenthood is though a pap smear. This is mandatory with prescription birth control. The only man I’ve seen are waiting for the women there. I’ve never seen a man go in alone for treatment.
I don’t think businesses or any organization should receive government funding.
They probably throw that argument we lose funding for breast cancer research just watch
You can go to clinic get free breast cancer scanning here in SO CAL there is plenty of medical clinic around especially in Los Angeles and OC areas
