Obviously the gun wasn’t adequately concealed.
I meant that you were thinking of COSTCO instead of COSCO
Probably. I only go to Sam’s Club. There is the other one in this area. I got a card for it when they first opened. Later I heard that they were affiliated with Communist China. Whether is true or not, I believed the person that said it and threw away the card and have been near there since.
I have a feeling you and the others would not be saying the same if the victim did NOT have a gun. No crying about how he is a reactionary, etc.
It is unfortunate that it was mistaken and the victim happened to get hurt, but life happens. The guy had guts to step in, rather than cower and hope 911 responds. Usually conservs are applauding personal bravery and action.
Leave my home out of it. I am a gun owner and a native who lives against central MD liberalism every day. It is mostly DC induced.
If it were not for MDers, there may not be a US. Hence my posting name.
“Stopping a criminal”? Because he had a firearm on him??!!! You forgot your sarc. tag, Some FReepers might really believe you were serious with that liberal like crap you just wrote. Good God....
I think he was pulling our legs. Nobody is that damn stupid regarding CC.
Being grabbed from behind is a bad spot. Learn some Judo.
Judo, Aikido, three younger brothers. Check....
LOL
Yeah, so if one of your loved ones were injured or killed by Foster's "guts", would you still be praising this moron? This wasn't an example of bravery, this was an example of completely impulsive stupidity.
I try to avoid tackling, especially at Walmart. (A couple of large sons block for me, when it’s very crowded. “Left up Aisle 9, Tom ... go, go!”)
Perhaps in the GPDSSRM, "Man with Gun" == "Bad Guy". In America, it's not so, and gun-grabbers, nanny-staters, and nervous nellies need to get used to it.
That jackass who tackled the armed citizen is a moron; his actions were inexcusable and incredibly stupid. He's very lucky to still be alive. Stupidity should hurt. Perhaps prosecution for assault and battery will be enough pain to get his head straight.
I see I cannot have a rational discussion without being name-called “stupid” very publicly, or “liberal” or whatever.
Yes, life happens, and the attitude that it doesn’t is the liberal attitude that leads us to endless lawsuits about every little thing. Even accidents are considered worth raking someone over the coals, much less deliberate acts. It leads to whining babies from the time they are in diapers and mommy overprotects them and tries to ensure every single thing is absolutely “safe”, and feeds into industries such as the baby industry up to and including “door locks”, etc. making money off the paranoia and the privilege so many seem to feel.
What if it were your brother doing the assault in such a case? Oh I know, with all the bravado around here, of course you’d throw away the key.
Sure, give the guy a slap on the wrist. Be done with it. If the victim wants to sue, go ahead. But I don’t think the state/county should be making the big stink as might the victim.
Nope.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Nope. You can’t go around tackling and choke-holding every person who carries. The CCW holder showed no evil intent. Probably was pushing a cart and admiring some Chinese-made lamps.
Crucify the idiot.
Please do not tag me as some kind of liberal in a round-about way by complaining about MD. I guess half the FReepers on this forum should just get out simply because they live in “liberal” states?
I have a gun purchased a few years back. My father and mother bought more to add to what longarms he had from way back. My sister (RIP) and her family bought guns the same time, also, and have quite a few. We all live within 10 min of each other, so if mine jams, I can just borrow another. It’s not great here but we still have our “allowances” and we still have people working to open it up better. BTW, they are not very effective up in western MD. I know, I’ve had beloved relatives there all my life and we can shoot pretty easily anywhere in the country there.
He THOUGHT he was stopping a criminal. Don’t misquote out of context. And yes because he was afraid a gun would be used for that purpose. What would you say if the guy assaulted him even without having any gun? Maybe you’d agree, but it would not get all the posts this is.
No, I am not stupid and definitely not liberal.
And I am a “she”, not a “he”.
I do not see why he needs full sentence when it was not his intention to just beat up someone for fun or profit.
Accidents happen; mistakes happen. Sure he can be prosecuted to some extent, and more is the right of the victim to sue him besides. maybe it is “stupid” but somehow I don’t think he needs full sentence.
You have a point. I think the guy needs to be prosecuted but I would submit not maximum sentence at all, in good faith. Of course the victim can sue if he wants.
What would you say if victim had no gun? My bet this would not even be a thread, much less have so many bravado posts.
I can get behind that.
Good to see you listened to reason. :)
