Two members of the House Republicans elite vote-counting operation have quit.
Reps. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Jeff Duncan of South Carolina both gave notice that they no longer wanted to be part of the leadership operation, according to more than a half-dozen GOP sources.
Their departures come as Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana, the No. 3 House Republican, told members of the whip team that they would be kicked off if they voted against procedural motions. The move was designed to solidify control of the Republican conference.
DeSantis and Duncan told Scalise that they were leaving the team before he made the announcement, according to one GOP source.
This happens every new Congress, people come and go, the source said. It was very conciliatory.
Procedural motions are important for the majority party because they allow lawmakers to proceed to debate and vote on the underlying legislation. Lawmakers are still allowed to remain on the whip team even if they vote against the underlying bill. However, leadership has decided to play hardball against them on rules, setting up the various procedural motions GOP leaders use to control the floor.

But moderate republicans who break ranks, why that's perfectly acceptable, expected and celebrated.
This is our ruling oligarchy.
IF those 'rules' are some dogmatic declaration of some 'doctrinal' modus operandi ... then those 'rules' should be exposed for me to determine if these resignations are in frustration over the ignorance of Americanism, or the protest over the control of a meme designed to subvert American Conservatism
Depending on how much exposure these guys get in the media, this could be a good thing. Overlooking his faults, Hannity does a good job giving the opposition GOP people access for instance.
Hopefully in the end, the old Johnson adage about keeping Hoover around will prevail: better to keep him in the tent p ing out than outside p ing in. If I had my way, there would be a new party created, the republidem party and it would be forced to absorb all the leadership of the current major parties.
WHAT COULD BE MORE OUTRAGEOUS THAN INSULTING CHRISTIANS AT A PRAYER BREAKFAST. The vaunted Progressive mask of "tolerance and compassion" slips.....as we bear witness to the face of evil.
AS KENNYBUNK INSIGHTFULLY POSTED: We, the People, top to bottom, all over the map---elected people who moreoless agree with us (and despise Obama). We now control both Houses of Congress, unified state control of Governorships and legislatures in some 30 sovereign states, governorships in Florida, Tx, Ill, Ohio, Mich, MD, Wisconsin, NC, GA, Mass. We ousted 30 lock-stepping Obamacrats who voted for the ACA.
Rejection of Obama could not have been more decisive.

KENNYBUNK instructs us to spend our time and energy to control Obama during the remaining dark months of his tenure. He should be made irrelevant.
Lots of noisy grassroots anger is a very good strategy.....b/c Republicans have their eye on 2016---and will play the same game that earned them their current catbird seats.

The Nov 2014 message delivered by Americans to their govt: " The people have spoken."
FREEPER ACTION ALERT: Any and all communiques w/ the new Congress should include "The List"...photocopy it by the gross, and blanket Congress with it ...... including GOPE's, RINOS, etc.
This new congress sure is a breath of fresh air!
I thought he was into that kinda thing.
Uh...well, not like there's anything wrong with that, you know.....
Lol....cute.
Liz, your posts are always insightful.
Thank you.
Thanks - good information
Unfortunately, the repubs will do nothing but concede with their majority.
Mark...
It’s ironic that the Republican party is being subjected to the same kind of forces that have ruined many mainstream religions in the US.
Liberals take over the leadership, and immediately start forcing what they want on the majority that do not want that. The liberals force out those who do not agree with them from the leadership, until they force the organization to schism.
In both cases, conservatives do not want what the liberals are selling, but the liberals want the resources that conservatives have in their control, be it the property of churches, or votes in the elections.
The end result is that the organization, left without the resources of the conservatives, withers while becoming increasingly leftist and irrelevant, bitterly cursing the conservatives the entire way.
Sadly, once the original organization has died, the liberals try to rejoin the now healthy organization of the conservatives, then immediately try to rise to the leadership, from where they can begin the corrupting process anew.
solidify control of the Republican conference by the ESTABLISHMENT, aka RINOs
I don’t want a Congressman who would allow someone, other than his constituents and his own principles, philosophy and conscience, cast his vote for him, that’s what members of the “team” are doing.
Excellent! Thanks, Liz. Your list gives me hope.
Thank you so much for all of your hard work.
